Nokia N-Gage - Irresistibly Irresistible - Part 2 - Bounce Boing Voyage

Monday, November 10th, 2008

So continuing from where we left in New Delhi. The previous post is here. Nokia N-Gage is changing the face of Mobile Gaming and that too at a real great pace. We have a lot of games lined up for the coming year 2009 so you better pick a device that supports N-Gage, which at present is limited but we should have more the coming year. I have had a word with Charlie about the 5800 XpressMusic trial Unit and things look pretty tight but would love to see how N-Gage fares on the first S60 Touch Device. As for now my personal best is with Nokia N85, it sure is the best N-Gage device till now on my list and you can catch the unboxing video here. I’m sorry for keeping you guys waiting as there was a server breakdown recently and I lost all my future dated posts that were in lined for you. It was a hard time recovering things but Luckily I had a copy of this one with me on my hard drive.

Can Nokia E75 Match Nokia E90

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Yes this time the new E75 which appeared in the very glorified leaked video this week, is the side QWERTY slider for the first time in the Nokia Line up of Smartphones (If I’m wrong then please correct me). Well we have seen the likes of uni-Sliders, Dual-Sliders and now its time for the Side QWERTY uni-Slider from the Finnish Giant. (This is not anything new as we already had side QWERTY Sliders in the market already viz. O2) Although it was not clear from the video what the message it wanted to point for the corporate world (May be the New Point and Shoot Feature) but we here at S60Blog compared it with the likes of the robust Nokia E90.

Nokia E75 (The Physical)

1. The Screen Size does appear to be bigger than E72 but compared to the amazing brilliant screen of E90 it stands no match. Don’t know what People at Nokia were thinking but if this helps to reduce the thickness of the device then its a thumbs up. In simple words the compromise of the screen size is justified only if the device is sleek, which i feel will be the case. ;-)

Nokia GPS & Maps : A Complete Review

Monday, August 18th, 2008

click to go back

I know a lot of us do have the high end Nokia phones that come with an inbuilt GPS and the Nokia Maps Software but we have hardly explored it. The same was with me until lately when I accidently opened the application and gave it a shot. So after using it for about a month today I finally sat down to write about it in detail. Now it was an intentional accident and I’m glad it happened as I was on vacation being unfamiliar with the neighbourhood made me feel a little insecure. Simply, you feel more in place when you know your way around and professionally it saves you a lot of time. So here is a Real Time Experience of Nokia Maps & GPS bundled together to see if the Navigation is worth or just another money minting technique by Nokia.

Nokia N82 – A Critics Review : Part II

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

This is the second part of my review with the Nokia N82, the first part can be found here. In this post I would like to pay attention to certain features which are exclusively used in day to day life and at the same time some features which completely aren’t. I have had a wonderful experience with the S60 device and as my trial period comes to an end I would love to sum up all my thoughts in this post, I know you don’t really look forward to it but I might as well plan a part III. A daily dose of what my Nokia N82 goes through can be found here and please take note that viewer’s discretion is advised before you click the link. If you’re not down with that then take a look at the gym celebrity who sure made a lot of heads turn or more precisely swing to the beats of N82. A big screen gaming session is what I personally enjoy the most. With all this being done you might have guessed by now how N82 has become a part of me. I sometimes feel nostalgic when I think how would I go about when my trial period ends, which is pretty close. :-(

Let’s peek into the meat of the matter now. Ask yourself in what ways can you possible use a cell phone apart basic calling and text messaging? Yes, that is correct the review will go in depth of all the features and functions that a sane person can think of. Okay we here would focus on the main applications supplied and some of which I love to use, if you want a certain application to be reviewed please leave a comment. Also if you feel I missed something, I would willingly add it provided I get your feedback. If you want to share your take, you are most welcomed to reply with comments. First and foremost thing that comes to the mind is Camera, so let’s get on with it right away and other things would follow accordingly.

CAMERA

n82 065

This is the number one priority these days in a cell phone. You guys better check out some tips here in case you don’t own a N82, I’m sure you would need them as I did with my Nokia N73. Okay, the 5 MP (2592 x 1944 pixels) Autofocus is what everyone knows needs no introduction but what people don’t know that it is a Tessar 2.8/5.6 Carl Zeiss. Wow… and to add the cherry on top we have the Xenon flash. To be more specific, the camera has a Sensor: CMOS with the Carl Zeiss Optics: Tessar lens having an F number/Aperture: F2.8 and Focal length 5.6 mm. The focus has a near point of 10 cm and infinity as the far point but 50 cm in Macro mode.
