Hi people I am really sorry for this late post have a lot going on lately and plus just got my hands on the N900 so the E72 had taken a backseat for a while but this post has been in my head for quite some while now and now i am finally penning it down. Like in the earlier pictorial post I did tell you guys that the E72 has been able to do what the N97 wasn’t able to that is allow me to finally pack the E71. Nokia has taken all the GOOD of the E71 plus some more to pack one helluva device.I am going to give an overview of what you can expect from the E71 and in the subsequent post will deal with the MEDIA aspect of the E72.

FORM FACTOR:

I for one person am a really big fan of the E71 and now the E72 form factor. The qwerty keypad and the sleek design are a big YES for me and know for sure a lot of people around as the E71 did become one of the largest selling handsets of Nokia. The keys of the E72 are slightly bigger than that of the E71 and to cater to the bigger keys and keeping the size the same the space bar has been reduced in size. This is awkward for the 1st few times you use it but later on you don’t even feel the difference. A slight change in the outlook of the one touch keys is a welcome change make the look a little more sleek and niche. The battery cover is still a fingerprint magnet though a little less. There are NO CREEKS at all. It is a very solid device. Kudos to Nokia for this.

OPTI NAVI WHEEL :

My love for the navi wheel is evident by the fact that i am dedicating an entire heading to it. The Navi wheel is simply awesome. There is an option that it vibrates though the idea has been taken from the Blackberry but then it is welcome. The Navi wheel helps you to scroll through the menus very easily. It is even useful in scrolling through web pages but only those which are not very long. As usual the notification light and the breathing light is given in the navi wheel.’

CAMERA:

The E72 packs an amazing 5mp camera with autofocus and LED flash. I know people want the xenon flash but then a jump from the 3.2 mp camera of the E71 is commendable. It is not an awesome camera but then it is really good if we compare with the other E-series devices. The autofocus in the E72 is with a simple swipe of the navi wheel and not with the T key as was in the E71. The camera in good lighting conditions does a reasonable job.

MUSIC:

The E72 comes with a standard 3.5 mm jack (wohoo) Nokia have been able to provide a 3.5 mm jack without adding to the size of the device, now how cool is that. The music quality from the speakers is really nice. Its loud and clear. Though the head phones along with the device are really average but the quality of music with a good pair of headphones is really nice.

I hope i have covered nearly all the requisite heads in the overview I am working on another post keeping in view the E72 camera. If you want anything else reviewed do let me know…

Hi guys, I have been a little busy with my work and a little unwell hence the delay in this post. I have been meaning to right this post from the day I received the device. To say that E72 is a successor may be an understatement, this device has finally made me stack away the E71 in its box (which the N97 couldn’t do). Catch some of the initial pictures below and watch out for a complete conclusive review.

Nokia E72 is the next in line QWERTY candybar messengers that is all filled with new features. Being the first 5 MP Eseries it also has some snazzy new set of features that are totally new and unique to it. One this that Nokia finally managed to update is the use of secondary camera. Back in the E71 and E66 this feature was not available by default although the phones did have a secondary camera to them. A lot of people voiced that it should be active and thus in E72 we have it. Nokia is learning fast from its mistakes and has managed to improve user satisfaction with quick improvements. For more info on E72 (pictures & videos) click here. Like N86, the E72 too has a panorama Mode

Well, Nokia has added another QWERTY Messenger to its list with the official announcement to Launch the much hyped Device the Nokia E63. From the looks its more rectangularoid version of the E71 but don’t let these looks fool you as this is much improved and more powerful successor of the later. This device breaks the way music was traditionally served on Eseries as now it has a 3.5 mm Audio jack that can be used to plug in your standard headphones . Not ending the story here, we also have a free 1 GB Files on Ovi service with this.

UPDATE: Thanks to rakesh we have a few edits in our post. First the device is for emerging markets i.e. aimed for mid caps thus will be less expensive as compared the the E71. And second is that I just got an inside news that the E72 and E63 are different devices .

Is it the E72 or altogether a new phone is still a mystery but in case you want to take a look at the E72 vs E71 post click here. I was planning to upgrade to Nokia N85 but now I guess I’ll have to wait a little more and see if this new QWERTY is worth. Estimated cost is around Rs 18,000/- Rs 15000/-

Quick Specifications run down of the device: E63 handset features GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA connectivity, a 2 Megapixel camera (this is a thumbs down), no secondary camera for video-calls, Bluetooth, WLAN, Java MIDP 2.0 and CLDC 1.1, QWERTY keyboard, a generous TFT display supporting a 240×320 pixel resolution and a 3.5mm jack connector port.

The Official Press Release :-

Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced the latest addition to its Eseries range, the Nokia E63, designed for people who need to manage their business and personal lives equally well. Building on the success of the Nokia E71, the company’s flagship messaging device, the Nokia E63 brings the QWERTY keyboard form factor to a broader audience at a great price. The Nokia E63 is expected to begin shipping in the coming weeks for an estimated retail price of EUR 199, before taxes and subsidies.

“Our research shows that people want a device that deals with both their personal and professional lives, but helps them to separate the two. When someone sits down at lunch, they want to update their social network or browse their personal email account and they don’t want work getting in the way of that. It’s another great case of technology adapting to the people that use it,” says Soren Petersen, Senior Vice President, Nokia. “The Nokia E63 is a new proposition for Eseries – a messaging device where people will be just as involved in their social network as they are in their business network.”

Whilst appealing to a new group of consumers with a design that feels great in the hand and has two new colors, the Nokia E63 is still very much a member of the Eseries family. Petersen continues, “People use Eseries to access their corporate mail, review their calendar and work in their business network, so the Nokia E63 still includes Wi-Fi connectivity, easy access to Mail for Exchange and dedicated key access to contacts, calendar and email.”

The Nokia E63 also has the ability to switch modes with a single key press, switching from a view of corporate mail, appointments and intranet data, to a personal mode with a picture of friends, personal email and shortcuts to favorite hobby blogs or websites. Petersen adds, “The amazing response we have seen to the Nokia E71, which has very quickly become the best selling model in its category, let us know that we are heading in the right direction. People want a rich experience when using messaging, social networks and the Internet. With the Nokia E63 you can enjoy the web, update your status and work meaningfully with multiple email accounts.”

The Nokia E63 also includes Files on Ovi, a service where people can get remote access to their PC files even when their computer is offline. Anyone buying the handset will have access to 1GB of online file storage for free.

The Nokia E63 will be available in ruby red or ultramarine blue with a range of multimedia features. Record and view images and videos with the digital camera and bright landscape display, listen to music downloaded from the Nokia Music Store, or a number of other sources, via the standard 3.5 mm audio jack or customize the device through the thousands of applications available for download.

Having witnessed the Official Promo Video of the Upcoming QWERTY E7 lineage, The Nokia E72 and E75, the video which apparently was leaked on YouTube (well now it has been removed) made me concluded a few points to ponder upon. First of all the upcoming models mean that there are some exciting new things to look up to. Well, from what i judged from the video is as follows (based on the following the title of the post can be changed to E72 vs E71 )

The E72 (Physical)

1. Nokia E72 is the next upcoming QWERTY keypad phone after E71. The outer face keypad seems to have same shortcut keys and looks pretty filled up. The keys now appear to have a mountain elevation with numbers and alphabets on opposite faces (diamond domes), something like this ‘ 2/\T ‘ (inverted V) contrasting this with the E71 which had rather round domes (picture below).

2. The D pad is the same. The screen size too appears to be the same as the Nokia E71, which I feel could have been improved.

3. The cross-section looks thick and will apparently enable to add a Good Carl Ziess Camera, which I feel the case will be as so does our friend Mark who has detailed his early thoughts based on the video just like me. Mark also pointed out the space bar becoming smaller and has made room for three more keys. Screenshots below for comparison.

4. A better camera is sure in place for the Nokia E72, more on the likes of 5 MP. Thus making it more fat and rather not so sleek as the E71. If Nokia will incorporate any of their Legends Telegraph technology then I will definitely upgrade asap.

5. The illumination of the Keypad also looks brilliant and bright as compared to E71 which was rather dim.

6. As far as the color goes, now we know that E72 will feature for sure in ‘Red’ and ‘Black’!

Final Thought

Nokia E72 sure looks promising with its new built and Design. If the camera is improved then I’m pretty sure it will make a great successor to the amazing E71. On final grounds, the E72 is an Obese (fat) version of E71 offering better Optics which simply means with added features the battery would lose out but who knows, its all to early. Below is a picture of E71 for you guys to compare both the phones.
