Nokia N97 UK Launch Party

As some of you may know I was invited to the official launch party of the N97 last week (Tuesday 16^th of June) at the Getty image gallery where I think this was the prefect venue for the event. The beginning of the launch was attended by Stephen Fry who looked genuinely impressed by the device.

First of all we were addressed by Mark Loughron (Managing director Nokia UK) who thanked all those blogging about the device as it has had a large impact on the pre-order sales of the device here in the UK.

It was rather a pleasant evening and we were introduced to the virtual reality display that would have been placed in the Nokia flagship store in Regent street for a week prior to the official release of the device into the stores nationwide on the 26^th of June.

Nokia’s staff were there to talk us through the display that some of the devices main features and Nokia’s services available including the Ovi store and the fantastic Nokia maps 3.0 that I had had previously used that day to find my way to the event without any hitch at all. We were then left to play with a few of the devices and after doing so am rather impressed at its design and ingenuity and will look forward to trailing this device in full in the near future.

Nokia Unlocking A New Device Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the big day. There is a surprise waiting for all of us. A special phone is going to be launched by Nokia. I had it in my daily planner to post this but I guess I must have missed it completely. Anyways, its better late than never. So with the ongoing announcements by Nokia on a varied market reach from high end Nseries launches like N96 and the coming up N85 and N79 to the first Touch S60, the 5800 XpressMusic to yet another mysterious release. This quarter has quite been busy for Nokia as well as for us consumers.

Well lets focus on what the idea behind this new phone is, as it is now common with all of us, Our phone knows everything about us. From pictures to videos to text messages to voice mails etc the list is never ending. Now you don’t want your phone in wrong hands do you. Well same is the case here as three people end up losing their phone in different situations with a BIG question – If you happen to find their phone, will you look through it? Nokia N85 & N79 Officially Announced

Nokia Finally Announced at 2:30 p.m. India time that it would launch two new handsets Nokia N85 and Nokia N79 which will be released for sales this winter. These will feature the latest S60v3 Os with FP2. Great design and built, these devices are sure set to shake the mobile market. Very handy in size these will feature a new application called the Nokia lifeviNe, an application in which you can share your most amazing moments with friends and family and save on the device and later upload them. Following is a detailed look at both of them.

Nokia N85

Nokia N85 is taking the world of mobile convergence to the next level. Gaming, photos, navigation and music blend together with the newest Ovi and third party services via 3.5G HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity to make discovering and sharing experiences quick and seamless. The Nokia N85 is expected to begin shipping in October 2008 with an estimated retail price of EUR 450, before taxes and subsidies.

The Nokia N85 is pre-loaded with at least 10 made-for-mobile N-Gage gaming titles that jump off of the screen thanks to the dazzling OLED display and a voucher to activate one full game license. The phone also features a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and bright dual LED flash captures clear, sharp images as well as DVD-quality videos at 30 frames per second. Combined with A-GPS it is possible to geotag favorite pictures to see where each photo was taken using the Nokia Maps application or online sites such as Share on Ovi or Flickr.

Nokia N79

The Nokia N79 offers a full range of multimedia experiences including integrated navigation, music with FM transmitter, high-speed connectivity, superior web browsing, at least 10 pre-loaded N-Gage games and an advanced 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. The Nokia N79 is expected to begin shipping in October 2008, with an estimated retail price of EUR 350, before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia Maps makes it easy to explore and navigate new surroundings by accessing more than 15 million points of interest (POI). In-built A-GPS providing turn-by-turn navigation – for walking or driving – comes with a three month integrated license on the Nokia N79.

A Friendster widget will also be made available for the Nokia N79 via the WidSets service. This will allow people to browse Friendster friends’ profiles, view and post shoutouts, upload pictures taken with their handset, and browse their own and friends’ photo albums.

All we can say about this device is that, Nokia has sure changed the name of the game is Sliders. Samsung better watch out for this one.

The Nokia 7510 Supernova boasts an iconic fold design with a push-to-open side key. Available with Xpress-On front and back covers in ‘storm blue’, ‘red’, ‘emerald green’ and ‘espresso brown’ the Nokia 7510 Supernova features magical light effects with a hidden-until-lit display and a reminder light. With outstanding mechanical quality, a soft feel and solid metal hinge, the phone features a 2 megapixel camera with NIPS, LED flash, 4x digital zoom, a 512MB microSD card**, a large 2.2 inch QVGA display and a new user friendly Nokia web browser for easy access to Nokia Search, Share on OVI and Flickr.

After the N76 Flip and 6600 Fold, this device again promises to feature the Latest technology at a affordable price. Im sure Motorola V3i fans would feel insecure after its launch. Bang on Nokia..!!

Nokia 7310 Supernova

The slim and sleek Nokia 7310 Supernova includes Xpress-On covers etched with daring 3D textured designs available in ‘steel blue’ plus a second front and back cover in ‘wasabi green’ or ‘candy pink’. A further five front and back cover options will be available for purchase in select markets in ‘mushroom silver’, ‘plum jam’, ‘electric blue’, ‘yellow mellow’ and ‘espresso brown’.

Additional features include a 2 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and TV out for image sharing, instant messaging and playing the preinstalled games on TV. An FM RDS radio and an MP3 music player complete the offering for style conscious individuals that want to enjoy their music anytime, anywhere.

The Nokia 7310 Supernova is available in the second quarter of 2008 with an estimated retail price of 155 EUR before taxes and subsidies.

The Best Part is the TV Out which can be used to play games. Believe me its a great experience to play 3D games on full screen. I have tried it with Nokia N82 and it worked great. Not bad at all for this price tag. Great Phone to watch out for.

Nokia 7210 Supernova

For trend watchers who want simplicity with style, the Nokia 7210 Supernova has a chic, slim design (Really Slim) and is available in a choice of ‘bubble gum pink’ and ‘vivid blue’ in a gloss finish. With the Nokia 7210 Supernova, people can enjoy music sideloaded from a PC or purchased from Nokia Music Store, as well as manage music with the new Nokia Music PC client, which is available for download. With an SD memory card slot, favorite music and videos can be easily played and saved. A 2 megapixel camera and access to Flickr provide one click access to share photos.

The Nokia 7210 Supernova is available in the third quarter of 2008 with an estimated retail price of 120 EUR before taxes and subsidies.

This we feel is the best deal and would boost Nokia ground where the Motorola L7i has its roots. Good Job Nokia…!!

Our Verdict : 8.1/10

Considering the Design and Functionality tag we give it a Thumbs up. We are not to sure about the price but will sure come up with an update on that. If you want to stand out different from the crowd then you should go for any one of these that suits you.

The only question that remains unanswered is that what happened to 7410….??
