2. Locate the Setup File and Right Click on the package and select Properties.

3. On the following window Click on Compatibility tab.

4. In the following window that appears make the following changes:

Select Run As – Windows 7

Tick Run this program as an administrator (in the bottom)

Now click Ok to close the windows which also saves the settings.

5. Come back to the Setup Package and again Right Click it and select Run As Administrator.

Developers who work on Windows 7 64-bit are still waiting for MADDE support. But if you don’t feel like waiting any longer try this hack which lets you woek with MADDE in 64-bit system.

Installation

Please follow the step Getting_started_with_MADDE_on_Windows

Note: In the driver installation step, please use this modified driver. ( Download here File:Nokia770 USB Ethernet RNDIS with x64 support.zip )

How to install driver in Windows 7:

1. Go to Device Manager by right mouse click at My Computer and select Properties and then select Device Manager in the left pane

2. Right mouse click at new device with yellow triangle and select Update Driver Software.

3. Select Browse my computer for driver software

4. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer

5. Now click Have Disk and then browse to driver file downloaded above

6. Next Next and then Finish!!

Test Result

After driver installation completed, there will be new network adapter named “Nokia 770 USB Ethernet/RNDIS” appear when you plug your N900 in. Don’t surprise if it shows as unplugged since it’s just a driver problem. However, if it shows, it means your N900 is plugged in and connected completely already. ;)

Known Issue

- Don’t surprise if Network Adapter show as unplugged

- Don’t forget to fix this new Network Adapter IP with IP in the same subnet as N900

- Ping is the only way to make sure your settings are correct

While we did a quick toutorial on how you caould build your first Meego App in Qt, here we have MADDE (Maemo Application Development and Debugging Environment) which allows us to compile Qt based applications for Nokia N900 or any Maemo 5 device from within Windows without going through Linux VM. MADDE team is working to enable same for Mac OSX and other flavors of Linux. Find out more at http://wiki.maemo.org/MADDE

Here’s how to make your first Qt App:

Download and installed Qt for Windows SDK from http://qt.nokia.com/downloads

Next, install the latest build of MADDE from http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/MADDE.php

Finally follow this simple guide http://wiki.maemo.org/MADDE/QtCreator_integration_for_windows

Installed latest build of Qt Creator 1.3.81 in separate folder from the snapshots link in guide

Connect PC Connectivity tool to connect your Nokia N900 via USB cable.

Configures the connectivity as described in guide.

Nokia’s push for Qt on MeeGo (or Maemo) and symbian now making a lot of sense. And after some initial experiemnts Faisal think it’s the right direction, where developers will not have to learn new programing language for each platform, but just select the target platform to compile for. And best of all, the application is compiled natively, so no major performance drop and sandbox issues. With Qt on symbian and MeeGo, there’s now even bigger opportunity for mobile developers to target greater audience with less development efforts.

You will need to download the Qt creator in order to start building apps for MeeGo. Qt Creator is recommended as the integrated development environment (IDE) to use for creating MeeGo applications. Project creation is a snap. Features such as code-completion, integrated help, and drag/drop UI design accelerate application development.

CAUTION: Before you read further, please make a back up of your device and make sure you understand that you are doing this at your own risk. We will not be held liable for any type of loss that may occur during the reset process.

1. *#7780# – Restore factory settings – resets all the settings to the default. Make sure you back up your data. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345.

2.*#7370# – Reformat your phone (out of the box, though keep in mind that most new nokia phones at least Nseries, Eseries and s60 based phones have UDP – user data preservation, so not ALL data may be lost. Still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)

This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button.

3. Hard reset – hold the following buttons * (star key), 3 (number button) and talk/green key for s60v3 based devices. Turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. Once you feel the phone power up you can let go off only the power button while still holding all three buttons.

For Nokia 5800XM – use the following buttons to do a hard reset, /Green/Red/Camera keys pressed all at once on power up. This will only work on 5800′s that have firmware version 20. and up.

For Nokia N97 (unofficial version but works) is Backspace/SpaceBar / Backspace while holding the power button. Again do not let go until you see the handshake screen. If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.

Catch the video below to see how I did a hard reset on N97 and N95 8GB.
