Mobile developers can help solve some of the world’s most pressing problems and compete for cash prizes in the World Bank’s Apps for Development competition. To enter, developers must create apps that support the bank’s Millenium Development Goal Indicators, a set of of ambitious goals to alleviate world hunger and extreme poverty. Entries will be judged on quality, implementation, and potential impact by a panel of judges that includes representatives from the World Bank, Nokia, Craigslist, and Google. Nine winners will be announced in April, and they will win cash prizes of $5,000 to $15,000 (USD). All submissions are due by 10 January 2011.
