Ovi Maps Rendering API provides easy and fast access to pre-rendered map data for all regions of the world for displaying position data.

The Ovi Maps Rendering API is a Java based service, running in servlet containers for Tomcat. The given parameters in the URL request are parsed. Based on this, the required map tiles are calculated and then requested from the CDN (Content Delivery Network)/ MapTile API. The Ovi Maps Rendering API can deliver map images consisting of these map tiles in different discrete zoom levels for all areas of the world. Currently zoom levels between 0 and 17 are supported.

Ovi Maps Rendering API allows developers to create rich map applications for browsers. They can use this service to display a given geographical position, points of interest, routes, turning points, junction views etc. The necessary data such as position, radius, zoom level, map type etc. are specified by parameters as part of simple URL requests. The created URL containing these data can be shared via SMS. It is also possible to embed the resulting map images into your own applications.
