[RDA] Remote Device Access – Test Your Apps

April 29th, 2010 | No Comments | by Mod | Share

You just created a slick Web Runtime widget, and it runs great on your Nokia N97. It’s fast. The integration with the home screen is going to change the world. But before you release your widget, you want to double check that it works just as well on an N97 Mini. And test it on a S60 5th Edition device with no keyboard (like the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic). Oh, and that new C6-00.  A developer could go broke buying all the devices she wants to test her apps on.

Forum Nokia has two services which can solve your problem:

Both enable you to try out your applications on live Nokia devices over an internet connection. The free-of-charge Remote Device Access by Forum Nokia has S60 and Maemo devices connected. The fee-based Forum Nokia Virtual Developer Lab powered by DeviceAnywhere has a set of Series 40 devices with some S60 devices. Either service is a great way for you to test your apps on a wide variety of devices without buying a cabinet full of hardware.
