Some goodies for Java ME developers
If you’re a Java ME developer on our Symbian platforms, you will probably be interested in some goodies posted to the Wiki recently:
Now the Java ME interface to the API Bridge is available: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/J2ME_Api_Bridge_Interface. If you don’t know what that thing is, please take a look at this: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/APIBridge_Web_Runtime_API.
Essentially, the API Bridge is a way to extend the capabilities of a certain runtime. For example, by making file upload available to Web Runtime widgets and Flash Lite applications. The Java ME interface brings some of these services to MIDlets. The first wave contains:
- Call log
- Location
- Media Management Service
- NewFileService
More services are being planned and will be released pretty soon. Take a look at it and contribute feedback by saying how else you’d like to extend our runtimes through the API Bridge. We’re listening!
