As we had informed you in May, Nokia Maps has been updated to v3 bringing loads of new features & speed improvements. Along with the new features, the user experience has also been improved with easy to use shortcuts for most of the main features.

Whenever you open Ovi Maps, It pops up a tiny balloon notification about one or the other shortcuts like this -

There is also an overview of the shortcuts according to the associated key which can be accessed via the 9 key.

Shortcuts explained -

1. Change map mode

Switch between Map / Satellite / Terrain mode

2. Tilt map down

Tilt the view from bird’s eye to a horizontal first person view.

3. Map 2D/3D

Switch between 2D mode & 3D.

4. Rotate map left

Rotate the current map view to the left.

5. Align map north

If you have rotated the map or have been using the compass, press the 5 key to align the map in north direction.

6. Rotate map right

Like the 4th option, this shortcut lets you rotate the map to the right.

8. Tilt map up

If you tilted the map downwards using the 2 key, this will let you tilt the map upwards again.

9. Overview of the shortcuts

This will bring up the shortcuts overview as in the screenshot posted above.
