Nokia N97 First Official Firmware v11 Update (1 July 2009)
Here goes the changelog of the Nokia N97 latest firmware v11:
New applications added
> Ovi store client now embedded in the core system image
USB detection error fix
>PC does not detect N97 or USB charging connection not detected.
Widgets
> Home screen online/offline widget crash fix
> Fix for “Alphabetical and Number input are mixed in facebook until end key is pressed.
> Widget UI improvement – New facebook widget fixes a problem of Home Screen background visible on soft-key area.
> Browser fixes to improve widgets stability.
MfE related fixes
> Partial fix for Messaging/calendar entry lost.
> Mail for exchange calendar entry synchronization error fix.
UI Transition ERROR Fixes
> UI transition (Slowness and bad effects)
> Slow Touch UI response
> Picture of the device lock appears half of the screen when transitioning the UI sometimes
> Landscape: in some cases the soft buttons on touch (right hand) show the Home Screen in background (install maps.google.com)
Photos thumbnail performance and stability improvements
> Device performance deteriorates when lots of content in the device – especially photos
> Partial fix no display backlight illumination when unlocking lock-key – CAP Genius reported already
> New version of AccuWeather to improve the “Connection error” situation
> Device reset when browsing with high speed packet access (for Malaysia )
> Browser soft key UI doesn’t work after putting Chinese character with qwerty keyboard
> Java fixes (TCK, Pre-install app disappearing, *#7370#*)
> Operator fixes (CMCC, Hutchson and Telefonica, Vodafone )
You can get the new firmware as a FOTA update or you can rely on the good old Nokia Software updater and download and apply it through USB connection
Another Update will come in the End of August to Fix All the N97 issues. And That we All hope to.

About the Update:
The Software version 1.1 will focus on user experience and include an update for Ovi Store so that it comes pre-loaded on the device instead of just the launcher. To get new software from July 1st on your device select the Nokia Software Update button found in the Application folder and set the program to regularly check for new upgrades and features. Users can choose how to download the updates, via HSDPA or WLAN so brand new upgrades and functions are a mere click away.

Just purchased N97 on July 4, 2009 fron an NPD, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. My version is V10 and I have been trying to update it to V11 through OTA and even through NSU. No luck. I felt the phoe is worth it's prize. Camera, QWERTY keyboard, even the UI, which is so unlike 5800 are quite good. Just waiting for the upgrade. How to do it? Can you please help me?

What Kind of Error you have when Updating the Firmware using the NSU ?

It Says ” No Software updates avaialble for your phone. Please note that your mobile service providers, operator or carrier may not have approved the latest Nokia device firmware available” this is the reply I am getting when I try through NSU. Perhaps this update is not there for us. But I am having the same kind of bugs, which were solved by V11. Thanks you for responding. Do you think I have to wait?

yes you have to Wait until it Approved. The Update for Any mobile phone is Taking time to be Available Worldwide.Don't Worry it will be Available SOON.Good luck

People are getting frustrated about the new Filmware Update Ver 11.0xxx, some are trying day and night to download but unable to get it, so please help asap ! Rumours are saying it's out, but where???? I can't understand why Nokia is taking so much time to release it! I tried this but “No Update” it's very frustrating!!!

ok RS. The Update is Released and this is not a rumor. But not in all Countries and also not for all N97 version for example Nokia N97 version (RM-505) is preventing from the update because its not Available for it.

Hi, Finaly I got the update,,for N97 today,,it was not available FOTA but I did it though my NSU. Well, the user interface has become a bit stable now. But the lag in moving from the homescreen label to actual applicaiton is still there. The Key guard problem is solved but now I am unable to activate the iphonish keylock application. Wonder what happened to it?Anyway, finally, the v11.0.021/ RM 505 is available in India. Will update as I keep workling the phone.

We are still waiting impatiently to download the new filmware update V11.xxxx , I can't understand this, why Nokia is taking so long to release it! I have tried several times but No update Available!!!! Even i have tried from different countries website of Nokia , but nothing yet!!!

I finally updated my Nokia N97 RM-505 from 3 network .this morning, i checked the Nokia sofware update on my phone, it says important update, then updated through PC, hope most of the problems will be solved! N97 is great phone! I thanks Nokia to provide high quality phones!
