Nokia Indoor Positioning Trial Begins In Helsinki
Nokia today announces the launch of a mobile indoor positioning trial at Kamppi Shopping Center in Helsinki Finland. The roll out of the new indoor location service marks the second phase of an ongoing research project which began in March 2009 in partnership with Kamppi Center Investments Oy (EFM Suomi Oy).
In addition to indoor maps, discount vouchers, and information services, the mobile indoor positioning tool will allow shoppers to track their position inside Kamppi Shopping Center and pinpoint their location on indoor maps. Shoppers can also share their location with friends via an SMS link.
To try the new mobile indoor positioning tool, users with a web enabled S60 device can download it at http://kamppi.nokia.mobi and by selecting ‘positioning’. The trial application can also be downloaded from Nokia Beta Labs.
