Nice article, Carton!
It seems like if these two were the only Nseries devices out for '09, people could happily choose between the two. It really comes down to pics or messaging…

most people just go for the n97 becomes it's has a lot for features but some people don't need a big touch screen or a full keyboard, some people “like me” just need a small phone with a great camera. Go N86!!

The N86 is basically the N85, and the N97 just offers a lot of things that the N86 does not. Not even crazy I would buy the N86 after having the N85. BTW. That picture from the N97 from GSMarena scares me to death, the N97 looks like a fragile device, I am afraid I might someday keep the screen in one hand and keyboard in the other

Hi,
Did you reade the latest news on N97 – a 434 Mhz Processor and a measly 128 MB RAM !!
I have been waiting almost 8 months for this phone, and now I am pissed off!!. I mean cmon, Nokia should have done better than this. I really think they took the '97' literally and gave a phone which is even outdated by 2007 standards !!!
Shame on you Nokia!!! I dont see where they go from here..OMNIA HD will kick this phones ass even before it comes out!!

hi , I have read most of blog about N86 and N97,
basically I understand both what actually it major function,
from my opinion, I prefer the button than the touch screen, although touch screen is the new generation of phone ( basically it was try to competition with iphone)
Touch screen, have to carefull everytime you touch it, too soft it might not detect what you touch, too hard, you might scrash it. you can’t keep your finger nail ( for lady specially using this kind of phone)
I believe N86 is just enough for those function and camera,
don’t try to compare digital camera and phone camera quality,
don’t try to compare PSP and phone game,
don’t try to compare notebook and phone,
phone major task to talk with other, the rest of it just optional function for all of us,
if you think you can need a phone that do everything like other equipment,
than you are wrong.
just imaging, for pass 15 years, the purpose of phone?
than you should happy now recently what the phone can do.

I gotta say, when it’s about menu handling, smooth text messaging, GPS, CAMERA and WIFI Access, etc., I’d choose the Nokia N86.

WoW man u r exactly like me ! i am also not a big fan of touchscreen phones and i also don’t need a full QWERTY keypad cuz i dont use the internet a lot all i need in a good looking smartphone with my usual needs (music, gaming, camera, GPS, etc…) and the phone must be handy and easy to use (when i carried my dad’s n97 i was like if i am carrying a small laptop lol) but i am still confused between n86 and n96 which is better ? any help ?

I am Buying N86 its far better then N97, N97 has only few things like Touch Screen, Qwerty Keyboard(which i realy Don’t like) and a stupid back.
First Of all, if you want to buy a touch screen then why don’t to buy iPhone or other (Samsung or Sony Erricson Products)
Second it sucks why they didn’t enhanced camera only 5Mp Too Bad. For all of my friends i would suggest to buy Nokia N86 and thats it. Peace

i obtained N97, it is nice functional, but few things disturbs me, first camera cover scratches cam glass as time passes but video quality is amazing, very nice. second when i unlock it by side button it goes to camera mode, it somehow happens and u can prevent it with very carefully handling, and u get used to it. also web-browsing kind of not perfect, but nice feature when u want to see some part of web page it automatically zooms in. Outcome i thing it is good but i think N86 probably the best who did not use to touchscreen.
