The symbian software looks very outdated and would really not help Nokia get sales as having a delightful experience while using the phone is not visible. It is same old software with same fonts and layouts except its being changed slightly so it can co-operate with a bit bigger screen. I will not at all be surprised if this one fails too just like nokia n96. i would still buy this but would really not keep it for long and long means more than 1 month.
March 24th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
The n97 is a great phone, no doubt about that, it has all the features you could ever want in it. But the phone is going to be pricey, if you don’t really care about the price then dnt wait up preorder it, but if you dnt wanna spend a heap get the e71
March 25th, 2009 at 12:35 am
@ Aey.Keay
Would you spend your money on a mobile phone to keep it just for “one month”?
In some aspects I do agree with you, I think Symbian software should be more updated now, for some reason it has been loosing market for other platforms, but even so, I already had a lot of mobile phones from several manufactures, and believe me, Nokia is still my #1.
I just think the Nseries devices should have a better build quality. The Eseries are having much more fans than the Nseries at this moment.

hi there!!!
first of all nice review & great pics…really liked it. For instace doest it has graphic acc??yet to be confirmed processor speed!!! matter of fact N97 is a great smartphone but I’m pretty dissapointed when looking @ that N-series segment since nearly all its phones resembles each other!!! no groundbreaking tech…similar specs, i mean same symbian interface (poor animation and possibilities), except an extra in M.P of the onboard camera, wi-fi is now default in the series as well as the 3.5mm jack. but in the overall when you compare an N73 to an N95 that merely what is observed!!!ok now u have the graphic acc and a higher speed cpu… so what…
When you compare nokia to its direct competitors u can clearly see the gap present.
For sure I’m interested in buyin’ an N97 but when i compare it to an HTC touch Pro 2 I still ask myself the question TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY????
Similarly HTC Pro 2 to a Nokia Music X-press 5800…. c un monde de difference. Bon dieu Nokia soyez plus inovateur.
March 28th, 2009 at 7:29 am
The UI is still fucking ugly….. not the one shown on the new ad of N97??
I really hate the current UI of 5800XM, but what the hell, let us hope for a better UI design when zN97 really hits the market..

“WCDMA 2100 / 1900 / 850 / 900 – HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100″…
This seems to be the first phone that does both 850 and 900 UMTS.
However, the HSDPA comment is a little strange. I refuse to believe that it does full HSDPA on 900, but only supports UMTS speed on 850.
Would be nice to actually see some official info on the subject
PDAdb has the same set of UMTS frequencies and does not distinguish 850 as being UMTS speed only:

So, is the screen an iPhone screen, or a rubbish Nokia 5800 screen? If it's the rubbish Nokia screen then no matter how good the other features I just can't go for this phone. The screen is everything, and at this stage I just don't know.
April 11th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
its an iphone screen, with kinetic scrolling
May 11th, 2009 at 5:15 am
can I play texas hold'em poker that I used to play on facebook on the N97?
because it can be installed on Iphone.

Despite the crash getting on it, I think the temptation could very well be resisted – let's wait till it gets down to somewhere near $.250.
July 6th, 2009 at 1:23 pm
yeah its gr8 phone and may b heavy and price could b high not will b affortable for middle class faimly
July 7th, 2009 at 3:52 am
It sounds just as great as did n73 at the time of its launching few years back! This is typical nokia style of marketing. My prediction: its price will go down more rapidly than was the case of n73/n95. So if you are not a money thrower – be patient for a while and you will get it with less than half of today's price.
