Nokia 5800 Firmware Updates To v11.0.009
There is yet another minor firmware update of the First S60 Touch device the Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic. This takes the present firmware from 11.0.008 to 11.0.009. The firmware version update is available through the Nokia Software Updater for most of the generic product codes from EMEA region.
Still there is no word of OTA for 5800, which would make these small updates much easy and quick. There are no visible changes but as you would imagine, the firmware update is always recommended because it usually improves the performance and reliability! SF guys reckon there is no reliable change log (only tip about Prioritised calls fix) but the Phone seems a little more snappy and the new HelloOX 1.02 hack still works.
Nokia 5800 has the UDP but it is anyway highly suggestible to back up your phone memory before performing a firmware update as precaution measure in case something goes wrong.

Same here, the updater does find any new update, I am still with the 11.0.008. My brother in Europe has been able to update to 20.0.012 even though the phone was released there a week ago (Spain got it much earlier). Nokia…wakey wakey..India is waiting!!

v 20.0.0.12 just got released. Type *#0000# in your 5800 and select check firmware from options

The update is device ID dependent and not color. If you have the 0575590 Id (I am sure there are other IDs with the same issue), then the update is not available. The ID is inside the phone and you need to remove the battery to see it.
Have checked with Nokia and this update is not available for all yet, they have asked me to check once every day.

there is something wrong with my 5800, i wonder what causes its display’s constantly changing its color. Sometimes it even blocks out. Hope someone can help me figure out why. and any help to solve this please.

The 20.0.012 build is on my device now, and what follows is a first list of changes that I observed. To give a background, my phone is an Indian unit sold with the 11.x.x.x build flashed.
- Touch screen is more responsive
- Rotation of screen is faster
- Open application indicator (dot) is changed
- Some app icons (Download!, Music Player, etc). are improved
- Screen real-estate usage is optimised (Now I definitely like this one!). The originally tiny tabs for switching between dialed, received and missed calls have been replaced with larger convenient ones. Same for the tabs in other applications like messages, etc. I also like the sliding behaviour added to the tabs in messaging! The soft keys in the Telephone dialer are made bigger.
- The secondary camera is made selectable in the camera application (finally!). I wonder how this was omitted in the initial version.
- New apps: Dictionary, and Update Applications
- Search Internet has been extended to My Contents (phone data, practically everything on your phone)
- The text on the soft keys of the Full screen qwerty is made bigger – another intelligent change
- I have notices a speaker crackle in my phone when playing mp3’s. I don’t know for sure if this is a build problem or a deteriorating speaker frequency response. From past experience, I tend to blame the latter though.
- Contrast of some of the keys is increased – the Telephone dialer and other buttons are darker.
- The proximity sensor is now activated only when the call is established, as opposed to immediately after dialing, as was the case with the old build. This caused strange blacking out of the screen at times, which was easily resolved by locking and unlocking the screen once using the side slider. I am still to see if this change fixes that problem

Solution to the problem “memory full close some applications….”
the 5800 is compatible with 32kb or More SIM Cards..if you are using 16KB SIM you will face that problem (case with Vodafone in Mumbai)..
andif your preloaded content is getting locked with V20 , call the Nokia care center and get a activation codes.

Hi All,
After waiting for, oh so long, for an update for my product code, I went and changed the product code of my 5800 to a generic European variant and lo and behold my phone updated to the latest version.
Can confirm all changes posted by gadget freak. I have been running the new version for 2 weeks now with no problems.
Something I noticed, not sure whether this was there in the earlier version. When a call comes in, the reject button is not visible (needs a menu select). I sort of remember, I could reject calls using a button.
And yes, couldn’t resist making this comment: AK, you are dead right. TIMO baby; have you checked your employer’s latest ownership, you may be surprised?

The right soft key (at the very bottom of the touch-screen display) is the Reject button. You are right in noticing the change though, as this button was a large button as is the “Silence” button now. In any case there is always the red key (hardware button) that may be used to this end..

Leo9, I have same problem with my Ornage branded 5800. No update available. CAn you tell me which prod code you used and what software you used to update your phones pc? Did you use PC suite and the nemesis app is it?Also will this cause any problems with my network specific (i.e. Orange) settings for Internet / data connectivity or anything else linked to my network provider?

hi thanks for that but i try updated from v11 to v21 by cable connecting to my phone but during update my phone it restart i dint touch anything but it 22 secound lift to finished complete but my phone restart so now my phone it never star up i try -hold green + then on but it nothing happen i try to – green + red +camera button together
and on button but my phone never ever on it look like my phone is dead this is a second phone i try it the same i send back to o2 to replacement this is a second time it happen to me 22 second lift before complete it lose connection between phone and my computer
what is you idea i don't know what can i do how to fix before send back to company i would like fix my self before changing the phone
