Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Display Bug
Okay, this is something very strange, our friend Jeetu got a Display Bug on a Brand New Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. The colors just go crazy putting off the display. But after the keygaurd switch is pressed the phone goes back okay. Freaky Right! Boy, If I am not wrong then this is the first batch of 5800 in India and this is not what we expect out of the box. I love the innovation and creativity Nokia has along with its user support but Come On Nokia, this has just become so predictable from you guys now. We also had seen this in a new N85 and Vaibhav also reported the declining quality of your high end devices. Not to mention my new Black E90 which lost its inner display screen just after a week. I’m not sure but most of these devices are made in china. But I also want to tell all you consumers that, You can get your device replaced within 2 days of purchase, if you find any trouble with it. (contact your dealer for more info) Also if possible open and check your device right in the shop from where you buy, so if any fault is present, it can be addressed then and there.
And, why the hell don’t we have any official word on what the Pre-Order people will get. What goodies are included and what should be the official price. So, stop fooling around Nokia and give us the right information. Please these cheap marketing tricks (demand-supply games) will not work for long. So, Wake Up!

when exactly does the screen behave like this? i mean, i will get the phone tomorrow, so can u tell me how do we reproduce this bug so we can check this at the store itself??? the instance when it acts like this? is it during a call? or jut happens randomly? pls let us know..and have you sent this video to nokia?

well it does nt happen everytime…suddendly the display will go dull…while dng anything, wen u get yr fone play around with it for hrs to knw if it works perfectly…if the fone has a bug u will notice in 1 day…keep using all its functions…good luck…me getting my fone tom, as they were out of stock…

thanks for the reply jeetu..this sounds tricky, as u said nokia gives only 2 days for replacement..i hope there is no such problem in my phone..i also read one silly comment on gsmarena where u were talking about the screen changing colors and someone said it was a SPECIAL FEATURE!!

ya phone used to change colour,,,smetime red then green then bue..thou i dint mind this bug..but display bug is big ..tat y i gave it bak…

ya ppl it is a bug… no doubts about that and people i hope that this bug gets sorted out as early as possible (u are lucky jeetu ur device is getting exchanged in 2 days thats really cool) coz other wise this is a really really amazing device man…

i’ve only noticed some smaller graphics bugs. sometimes the menus don’t show up properly, only the first selected item appears. also when i’m writing with the fullscreen qwerty i get some grey stray pixels at least over the ok button.
I’m pretty sure these will eventually (probably soon) be corrected with firmware updates.

After delaying the launch… my a month nokia shld have checked all the bugs before releasing it in the market…tat to display bug is a faulty display…i understand software bugs tat can be sorted in future update.. but a faulty display is way too much…good tat i got the problem 1st day…otherwise i had to visit nokia care…and it wld have taken a month to get a new one…i looked up the net…changing colour bug is noticed by many 5800 owners…many have ver 10 thou…

hey good man u got it replaced….i havent com across this yet(hope not to get it). however a major problem i’m facing is with the earpiece, no proper incoming calls…am going to nokia t’row…

this problem is not a firmware bug, instead this is a harware problem that needs to be replace in the nearest nokia care. Its really annoying since we pay the unit with the right amount but in return we receive defective handsets.

im facing this same problem since the phone was brought but when i informed them about this they said it was a normal function of that phone but now its one week passed i know i wont get a replacement please help me with a solution or advice to sort it out please ASAP…

Hi..
I bought this fone in March.. first of all the problem arises with the unlock key.. so they replaced the fone bcoz the problem arises with inb 2 days of buying.. then i got the problem with the speaker.. i had to talk on loudspeaker beacuse i was not able to hear voice when handset is active.. this time i didnt get replacement of fone but they replaced the speaker.. Now its giving some strange problem.. whenever i kept the fone near my PC.. it got problem with the display.. the screen shows only blurred lines with different colors nad i have to resatrt the fone to work properly…. people in nokia care are saying u have to update the s/w n if problem will persist then display component will be replaced…
Please advice on d above..

Firstly, I thought its a software issue but after hard reset of phone the problem still persisted.
Later on I noticed that whenever I was in my office with A/C on I faced this issue with the display, but whenever I was out in the warm whether I never faced this issue.
Now the conclusion of all this is its a hardware problem and that Nokia has supplied us a phone with a faulty display which is not resistant to the cooler temperatures of even a normal room air conditioners and goes blur with scrambling lines when it gets cooler. The main unique selling preposition of this phone is its touch screen display, and the same is faulty. Nokia should have taken more care for testing out the display part atleast as this touch screen is 5800's main USP.
I had complete faith in Nokia phones for their build quality, but after this incident I have to re-think about this.

bullsyt my phone 5800 had a display bug…..i gave to nokia care in bd…they kept my phone for 2 long months saying display as not available..after that when i got back my phone …every thing was alryt by the display was very much dim…nt bright as previous display…i m scewed up wit nokia…..bulshyt again..
by da way as far i kno da display prob only wit made by nokia 5800 nt wot made in finland

Hi! frinds, It is ture, there are some problem in Just buy, Brand New Nokia 5800 EP, the latest exprience of my, The LCD (screen) is not capable to run any movie for 35 min. (in non AC envoirnment, It can runs movie for 45~60 min. in AC enno ) Screen goes totally green or red or negative & last screen goes blackout, nothing to see. 2nd, When ever i get conneted with PC by a USB cable during select a DATA STORAGE mode, it shows a drive, but less than 30 or 40 sec. than drive boot, again shows and again reboot. 3rd, When i want to switch off the phone, it show 3 menus, turn off power, trun off drive, trun of all prog what so ever, there was i fund only one menu option.,
And NOKIA Pepoles try to pursu me, no sir, it not a proble, it is phones feature. Although they take back my phone after a long long discussion, and promish me it will be return back by a new handset with in 3~4 days, but false, after 10days i can't recieve my new phone.

yes man the same problem here with my 5800, recently it started giving problem of blurring, i dont know what to do, moreover i have purchased this handset outside the country and currently am in diff country so trouble is it doesnt have international warranty

OMG….this guy uses d phone way 2 brutally…i mean..juzz look at d way he literally “bangs” his fingers against d screen n d way he jerks d side key lock so harshly…man…!!!! i knw dis phone has horrible defects but d best of phones will surely spoil within days in his hand!!!

even my 5800 has Display flickering prob!!
last month Nokia care guys sent it to the company and gosh it took 14 days to get my cell back!! n they just replaced the display unit!!
now again the same problem is faced!! n gave it to Nokia care n they said they will send it to thier nokia care head office, but they say that handset most probably wont b replaced!!
Me really very bugged!! me bought on June 09 and already 2wice the same issue!!
y can they replace my handset itself!! help me everyone!! plz!!

hey guys…i`ve got a new nokia 5800XM ..every thing is fine till now except the one that i`m getting the blurred images in the gallery thumbnails which was not earlier.i formatted the fon,updated the software but still no use…pleeese help me what to do..?? my id :zapterslog@gmail.com

Nokia XM is the worst phone ever considering the cost of the phone when it was released. Mine screen as completely maintained a scrambled face. the phone is not even up to 9 months hold.
I will advise anyone to just forget about getting this phone. Its crap!!!

this works for me.
it is VERY frustrating, but it works.
i rub the phone in both hands to warm it up, also shake the phone for 15 seconds then rub again.
while doing this you must often toggle the keylock switch.
i have been doing this for 3 months.
a firmware upgrade did not solve the problem.

Hi guys i have the same blurry image problem and i dont have a perfect solution but here is somethign that works at times…..
and no u dont have to rub the phone or shake it…
wen u unlock it and if the image is blurry just press the power of button one twice but not for two long that it switches off.. then slide agin to unlock it shud work.

Hey guys! I want to buy a nokia 5800xm. Do u thnk that nokia has repaired these bugs if i buy the mobile today? Or i should go for other mobile?
