UPDATE: Get a free Copy of SafeWallet Pro For S60 Devices – Click Here

SafeWallet Pro as the name implies is an Application for Symbian S60 Devices that allows you to store your confidential information (Credit Cards, Client Cards, SIN, Health Insurance, Drivers License etc.) in one secure place in your mobile device. So this way all you got to do is to remember one healthy password (may be change it now and then) and this gives you access to all your secured information. So it simply eases the burden of your Wallet. I will quickly introduce you to the application and then we will actually see how safe it is by seeing how it does when your Mobile gets stolen ;) You can get the application from SBSH.NET and download a trial which is fully functional for 12 days to see the application in action. I had been using it in beta but I wanted to see how the graduated version would be before I review it for you all. So read on for my initial thoughts and review.

1. The Installation and Interface

Once you download the file, all you gotta do is install. It supports Vista (may not work XP so check your .Net Version). The Application comes with a PC Client which is very decent and works the same as in your device but it sure makes adding, editing and managing your Wallet from a PC or a Laptop a lot more easier :P Kudos for that. The Interface is very well made and the icons are self explanatory which makes it very simple to get your way trough even for a first timer. The other part of the application which is on your device is also very intelligently built. It too has a simple interface in which you can work around with D-pad. All in all a good implementation of cool features and visuals (GUI). The only thing about the GUI was when you use auto-rotate the wallet goes off bounds with the screen, something which needs to be worked on.

2.The Wallet Setup and Function

Now after the easy installation the application you can either enter you data in the PC part of directly to the Symbian S60 device which ever way you like it. I prefer the PC / Laptop client for this as it is much easy and more quicker. Simply add a new wallet and enter a password for it. if you cant think of any difficult word don’t worry, there’s an inbuilt help to give you a very high security level password :P . So it is a very easy application to work around with. If you have been using other software’s to secure your data digitally well then SafeWallet pro offer you to get them imported to its client with a click of a button, pretty neat :D

3. The Synchronization

sync

For getting in Sync with your data on the PC and Mobile device all you have to do is to connect your device via Nokia PC Suite (I used microUSB Cable) and run the PC client of the application. then you will see a Sync button on the utilities tab. Just go ahead and Sync what all wallets you want. This is a to and fro Sync which means the latest changed entries will be synced. In more simple terms you can Sync data from PC to Mobile and Mobile to PC. The only thins it lacks here is a Sync Option in the S60 Client, as many a times my sync gave me trouble. Although a good feature but it needs to be worked out a little more. This was the only disappointing feature as I wanted to be in sync and it occasionally missed :(

4. Final Verdict

On a final note, I stored my data and gave my device to a known hacker. He fiddled around with it for a day and was not able to get through. I don’t know how good a hacker he is but seeing him unable to get my details proved that this application was beginner hack proof. So SafeWallet pro is a good bet for keeping you data digitally secured. I would rate is 3.8 /5 with a Thumbs Up for the support section SBSH offers. (I would love to see its support for the upcoming touch devices like the Nokia 5800 and N97) So if you are planning to party out and get drunk this New Year don’t forget to keep your data secure with SafeWallet Pro. And above all its half the price of Handy Safe ;)
