Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Firmware Expected Update to v11.0.08
We here in India have still to get our hands on this S60 v5 device which was announced to be release in first week December but has been delayed. On a positive note the pre-booking has started which I guess may be due to much public frustration and surprisingly we already have news coming in that the firmware of 5800 Tube will be updated to v11.0.08 . We got hold of this from our friends over at AAS. Although we don’t know when this will happen but it is expected real soon. So I guess we will have to see from our fellow Russian Nokia fanatics to give us an official word on this. Following is the expected change log.
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic firmware v11.0.08 changelog:
- Homepage is not defined for Vodafone Live!
- Last word disappears when selecting receiver in SMS
- My Nokia: phone displays “#” in front of Application name.
- During Back-Up & Restore operation, calendar entries are not restored
- Operator menu link within Welcome application
- Invalid message pops up before playing the file received via Bluetooth.
- Input Method, VKB just display number when selecting a WLAN access point which contains a password.
- Chinese box HWR control buttons and FS HWR control bar are too small.
- Unable to add image to Contact bar from Gallery when there is about 5 GB of data in memory card
- In Arabic UI, in calendar, the arrows on the top are reversed in week view and day view
- UI-rotation is too sensitive
- Search: Google search service is missing in Search.
- Contact could not display when switch numbers in Singtel 2-in-1 SIM card
- Maps: Wrong layout of the strings in the Maps search and favorites views
- Could not send new email if user name and password is not pre-defined
- Phone drops from service when both A5/3 +GEA3 used simultaneously with WLAN
- The Messaging application crashes a lot specially when replying or trying to send SMS you have to remove battery to be able to use the device again
- License Manager for Maps is not integrated to SW
- 5.0 Touch: Phonebook crashing when adding detail: Birthday, Anniversary
- Web screen is messed up
- Non stop Music Player “Library update”
- Clock, Alarm is inactive when phone is power off.
- APN Configuration Settings Update to be used for the Setting Wizard
- Ex-Factory settings are wrong
- UE unable to open Setting Wizard
- StartUpSettings version updated.
- Phone lost correct time during power off
- USSD – “Call Control Send USSD” command
- UE drops from 3G, then cannot sync to 3G cells
- Browser: Flash objects causes problems while browsing

Getting Memory full error close some applications , when tried to open new messages etc even though there were no open applications open.

I’ve been having the same -”memory full, close some applications” problem. The worst part is that this is my 2nd Nokia 5800 handset. They replaced the 1st one because it had the speaker as well as the memory full prob.
For the last 2 days i’ve been visiting the Nokia Care center. They have tried everything.. Format, re-install.. It just does not seem to go. Now i’ve been finally told to wait for a software update. My firmware is v11.0.008.
Why was i sold a phone that was not fully developed? Why was i not warned that the software is incomplete? I have not installed any application, etc..and still this problem!..and that too on my 2nd handset??!This is not minor bug.. You cannot open anything but your contacts book when this happens.. No apps, no messages, connections,..nothing!
This is sad.. I don’t know how many people have this, but if you are buying this phone, do it with your fingers crossed.. and pray!

What was the date of import on the box of the set. Please advice that for the benifit of new buyers. they will avoid that lot. May be in the newer version they come out with a fix for all the issues.

As per my records, All 5800 in India come with the v11 firmware.
1. The earpiece has sound fluctuation, its a known bug in all sets. Nokia Care is your best bet as if you manually do it at home you will lose your warranty,s o i don’t wan to advice this.
2. Memory full is not an issue with me till now, so can’t comment. Will check it with Sehaj’s device. More or less, I recommend backup your data and again do a firmware upgrade, it should solve the problem
3. There are a few touch applications over at our forums and some on the site. use the search feature to know more.
4. We should expect the next firmware upgrade in about march.

try taking out the battery and putting it back in. make sure the battery is charged. (also if u updated the firmware, make sure u did it right)

there is a trick with the battery.
Make sure the little connection contacts on the battery are placed properly. they tend to move you you put install the battery without paying attention to proper placement.

I have just upgrade my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic firmware to 11.0.009 from 11.0.008 and I tried installing a software .sis on it compatible for the s60 v5 platform and says Certificate expired. Could any advice please?

Solution to the problem “memory full close some applications….”
the 5800 is compatible with 32kb or More SIM Cards..if you are using 16KB SIM you will face that problem (case with Vodafone in Mumbai)..
andif your preloaded content is getting locked with V20 , call the Nokia care center and get a activation codes.

I have updated my nokia-5800 with latest software-v 20. But after updation iam facing memory full in c:\. And the mobile keeps on blinking.
I got frustrated with this device.
This is second time im facing problem with this mail.
First time mobile got hanged, so the nokia customer care replaced and gave me new mobile.
Now iam facing another problem with new mobile.
fnds plsssssssssssssssssssss dont buy this mobile-nokia-5800.
Most of the people are facing lots of problem……Its totally waste of money and time.

on my nokia 5800, I want to find out a way to lock the games in the applications because they are draining my battery really quickly when my friends look at it becaue it is new. does anyone know a way to put a password lock on them? x

Did any body noticed, after installing the new firmware, colour of media bar changed to gray, and in logs menu when we press green button, the touchscreen is not working to select misscall list or received calls list. Any solution ?

Hey There…..Even i have got a 2nd Nokia 5800 however the problem of Memory Full persists…..Does the 32KB / 16 KB SIM funda really work…..Have you tried this and has the problem now resolved.

hello everyone,
I bought nokia 5800 three months back.Yesterday i encountered with a problem that me cell phone restarts of its own especially when my phone rings,i cant even receive a call.Then i tried ejecting my memory card and the problem was resolved.everything was working fine when i started using my phone without the memory card,but its useless using this phone without the memory card.Another problem is that i can not view videos.they are locked and i cant access.is there anyone aware of this problem.please help.

i got the nokia 5800 about a month back,,,ever since i m facing the prob “Memory full error close some applications” .also the phone hangs a lot..many a times i m not able to open any applications..
went to nokia care,they told me the prob is with my sim and a new firmware which is going to be released would solve this prob..
will the new firmware fix my problems..

Most of the XpressMusic 5800 in India have import date in Jan or
Feb 2009 – even as of now – 16 June 2009.
They mostly come with v11 firmware. How is Nokia managing
to pull it through !! Does Nokia think India (and Indians) do
not deserve the newer versions !!!

Got a new Nokia 5800 and have an 8GB memory card which has 6.7GB free. When my friend tries to Bluetooth me songs it says that the memory is full and to delete things. Please help.

Ive got a Nokia 5800 and when i enter my Tmobile Simcard it says ' invalid sim' .. i tried my sim in my other phone and its completely fine. Does anyone have any advise as of what i can do ?

The problem comes with 16KB SIM
Use SIM card of 32K memory .

memory full…..empty cache on internet browser….internal browser and opera mobile cleared 36 mb
menu… messaging…options…sim messages…delete all sim messages
this cures the memory full problem and removes flashing envelope at top of screen.
happy days
