Nokia N-Gage – Irresistibly Irresistible – Part 4 – Asphalt 3 Street Rules
November is the N-Gage Month here on The S60 Blog and we will be reviewing a whole lot of N-Gage based games for you. Dirk Dagger and the Fallen Idol and Bounce Part 1 and Part 2 Reviews have been done and today we take a look at Asphalt 3 Street Rules. This is a game that is good for playing both on Candybar and Dual Slider devices. This is game took me off the hook as I really didn’t expect a Mobile to offer such advanced graphics. I have been a great fan of Car games especially the Need For Speed series and Twisted Metal right from my childhood days and have played every version of their game from PC to Playstation to Gamecube. So keeping this is mind I really didn’t expect this game to do any wonders for me but yet it clicked and has taken me completely out of surprise. I have still to punch in my codes as I have been planning an upgrade and as of yet the N-Gage does not support device switch.
The Game has its share of Cars, Girls and Crashes
. The format is simple and has that electrifying feel with neon flashes and pumping music. The game can be played in both landscape and portrait mode and the keys are comfortable in both. The graphics are very well worked and come with great color depth and transition. The screen has special features at the side like the top left corner has your standing / rank. Below it is the mini map feature. This is a very useful layout and completely corresponds to your gameplay and is in no way lagging. The top right corner of the screen shows the number of laps done and remaining. The nitro meter is at the bottom left and the speedometer on the bottom right. You can switch between mph and kmph from the setting.

The Wanted bar displays the level when the NOS runs out and you have to catch those blue neon bottles to replenish it. Points that you make are displayed on the right part of the screen. Thus in all the screen elements have been beautifully used and none of them obstruct you in gameplay. A big Thumbs Up for this wise space utilization. It never made me feel that I am playing the game on the small screen. The sound and music with the SFX is also very kicking and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The game has instant play mode and the arcade mode. There is a wide selection of cars and places to test your driving skills.
Thus to sum up on a quick note, Asphalt 3 Street Rules have lived the magic of the car gaming on mobile devices and has amazing graphic detail to make a user plunge in deep. The choice of different game modes and cars along with various horizons makes it a complete package to look forward to. With this I am giving it a Thumbs Up and 3 stars out of 5. Well, not everything was perfect and thus the game lacked a few points. These I feel were the dull trial format as for a regular user who has been playing N-Gage for a while feels that lack of punch and gave one no reason to buy the full version and the graphic details are very similar to its predecessor, thus making it highly unlikely for present users to upgrade. (I mean you could at least change the girls
