Nokia India Website Misleading + 5800 XpressMusic Ready For Sale*
First looking at the lighter side of the things today. Nokia India Website Needs an Update. It still has on its Main Page Free N-Gage Title Giveaway Tab. Now, that has been over since 31st Oct. 2008, the details of which I mentioned here. Don’t know why the Web Team has not updated it as yet. But this is totally misleading and the worst part is it takes you to the N-Gage Homepage, although not bad but still no mention of any free title giveaway on that link. Wake Up Nokia India, Stop Fooling People. Anyways it was a bit funny 
, but if Nokia has extended the campaign, then its good. I have yet to get an official word on this, but I did a double check and guess what, the campaign is now closed. So a thumbs down for the official site for providing misleading information. Wonder why haven’t anyone called in their lawyer as yet 
LOL. We have a few screenshots below. I have written to the web team, lets see if we get a reply on this.

In another development Nokia Spain prepares to Launch Nokia 5800 XpressMusic but on a hefty Price Tag. It is priced at an estimated Rs 25000/- which is way high of what was earlier announced. Following is a screen capture of the exact price in euros. Well these are the updates at the moment. More will come in so keep checking . Have a great weekend everyone. Hi,folks, i stay in guwahati, and the nokia priority people say different things here.. One said it wil b available by dec 7th and price wil go upto Rs. 24k , while other say that it wil come by nov last or dec 1st week and price will be between 20-21k.. So it is clear that it will launch by dec 1st week.. But the price is a concern here..By the way dont get sad if the price goes up, it is worth payable for a phone like this, i have already booked one for 1500 bucks..Good luck..

i checked at all the major mobile outlets in bangalore. No one has a clue about when its goin to be launched. Nokia India is pathetic.they should rate updated by now and confirmed about the price. If they increase the price above 21k then it cant be iphone killer. Does anyone have any info on launch date and price.. Please update.. Thanks.

today nokia priority people at bangalore that it costs 27k. They confirmed its launch by dec 5. This is not at all good by nokia. First they tell its 19k even before its launch in india and now its increased by 8k. I will better buy a omnia for 35k. Nokia will never keep up its words. Too bad.

i confirmed with nokia priority today. But i think they gave me wrong info on that. I got a new update just now. Nokia 5800 will cost 23k in india. Launch date is between nov 25 to dec 5. Goin to be launched by priyanka chopra in delhi. Thank god its affordable:-):-):-):-):-)

Nokia 5800 launch date confirmed. Its dec 5th. Price to vary in different stores.but it will between 21k to 23k. You can also go for advance booking although i feel its not required. Its really a good news. I hope you are reading this Neha. Only thing is colour is not yet confirmed. May be in india only red color will be there. Thanks.

friends i got an update and once again not happy with nokia. It says its price is £279 or $395 which comes to rs 20000. Its good news. But it tells that it has given full rights to the 1st seven countries including india to give freebies like free music store subscription for 1 year when it launches in 2009 and also other touch applications subscriptions along with navigation for maps for 3 months. So the 7 countries can increase another $100 after the original price of $395. This right is given by nokia. Hence the increased price in spain and obviously in the rest 6 countries. However if you want to buy it for Rs 20000, you gotta wait till feb 2009. Well its bad news for those who are waitin to buy it in dec 08 for Rs 20k. But again i still recommend to keep your fingers crossed since nokia music store is not yet there in india. Hence we indians can expect it for little above 22k. Can be 25k also in some stores. Hmmm. Well fooled once again NOKIA. Thanks.

hi dhama. Ok its official now. Nokia 5800 is launching on dec 5th. Its price is 25k. Some places it can be 26k(down south). This phone is a beauty. No doubts. But it lacks the high end feel like iphone. My only suggestion is to buy this phone if you are really crazy and interested in touch screen. Anyway nokia eitri will launch in feb09. This is thousand times better than iphone in all comparisons. Also it will cost less than 32k. Dhama i am goin to spain for nokia week on dec 1st. I will enquire all the details and post it soon. But buy nokia 5800 if you like touch screen and have little extra money also.

Official launch is dec 5th by actress priyanka chopra in delhi or mumbai. Will come to stores by dec 15th or 20th. Also available only in red color till feb 09. Wait till march if you want blue color or come to spain with me.

…yaar i think in e51 they were saying that we can’t download new softwares and games but my friend hacked the firmware n after that he is able to download all the softwares and games even ngage support in e51 !!! so i think same thing can be done with 5800!!!…wat u tell..??? i read interview of nokia official person on bigtellyt n he said price will be around 20-22k otherwise 5800 can face the same problem as iphone did face in india!!!

well i know that nokia had internal dispute and hence the delay. Other wise india was slated for november 21st release which was 1st country in the whole world. Well what rishav tells is true. But its partly true. It will be 19k. But the nokia has given rights to the countries to sell at their comfortable rates after 19k tag which will come to 23k or also 25k. So who knows if we are lucky we can get for 19k or if the stores wants to make profit they can sell for 25k.

Hi friends. i would like to inform one more thing about Nokia 5800. Many people are posting that there will be limited stocks of the phone and hence go for advance booking. Please dont believe them. I will tell a disclosed info i got. Nokia 5800 is targeting mid class customers and its a mid class phone and hence its goin to have unlimited stock throughout india. It is not like iphone with limited supply. I would suggest you all friends to be calm. Dont get worried about all those info. I would hardly recommend everyone to buy the phone when it gets launched and enjoy the touch screen. Also dhama one more info. The firmware for nokia was earlier s60 v9.3.6. There were also few handsets with this software with lots of lag and phone crash. So they have changed and using s60 v9.4 with which one can have unlimited games and apps. But it takes time. Well this is really a beauty set to capture those who like touch screen. So go for it.
. but mind you eitri is yet to launch and it has amazing features and also value for money.

yes nokia has taken the responsiblity to include more games and apps for 5800. Much more than iphone apps store. For people whose budget is 25k and below it you can go for 5800. Its truly a gem. For those who can afford 32k to 35k want a even bigger phone with better features you can go for eitri. also nokia NGAGE will also be available for 5800 from feb09. There were lots of internal disputes between nokia developers, nokia designers and the also many market issues. But finally everything is sorted and its good news.

hi arif. Nokia 5800 comes with 3g in india. But 3g is not yet available. It comes with wifi also. Only in few places like china japan france where it is illegal to use wifi it comes with only 2g. Otherwise everywhere it comes with both 2g and 3g and also with wifi. If they by chance only launch 2g sets in india then also wifi will be there. Wifi is not related to the networks. Thanks

Today when i went to mobile store and global access in bangalore they told me its goin to launch in north first and later in south of india. Still no proper updates on exact price. I feel the price tag of 21k is correct.

Lot of applications or also being developed. Its good they have started some work. But the problem for the developers are that they dont have freedom. Nokia dont give them the freedom to develop their games. Hence iphone is taking advantage. I hope NOKIA stop fighting on all these trivial unwanted issues and supports these huge developers. 5800 is all based on S60v5 which is the FUTURE of touch phones that nokia will come up with, thus a lot of applications are going to work on 5800 so don’t worry. And Symbian OS is going open source under Elipse License which will enable developers to build more applications both paid and free so the future looks bright as of now.
About the ngage issue, well all i can say is that 2009 will see more than 20+ games. only question is will u buy the full version?

Thats a good point made. But NGAGE platform will not work for 5800 since its only for Nseries. But few NGAGE based games as i mentioned above will. So it will come as full version. NGAGE games in Nseries are expensive. Unlike apps store in iphone where games and apps are comparatively cheaper, NGAGE is not a crowd puller. Thanks.

the Ngage platform will be launched soon for the 5800. just like everyother phone so far. the N82 was launched without the ngage but later firmware updates added the ngage.
the only reason the ngage is not yet there in the 5800 is cause there is no touch version of the ngage software and the games arent yet touch compatible. they are being worked on now and will be released by feb 09.

hey chetan kid. You dont understand one thing. I cant help if you dont understand english. Let me help you. What i told was ngage platform will not at all work for 5800. If it is being developed also its for the future Nseries touch phones and not for 5800. See in iphone there is no ngage platform at all but still asphalt4 works on it. Also midnight pool works on it. If you had a chance to touch the iphone and played in it atleast you would have known it.ok kid thats what i meant by ngage based games. It will not be from ngage platform but developers can make it exclusively for devices. Also 5800 is in express music category which is for music and video capabilities. You will find a good pair of speakers. But you will not find a multi media menu like in nseries and also ngage platform. I hope you atleast understood it now.

I do not understand what is the use of the launch. The latest news in the paper and other media confirms that the launch was today at the price of around 20-21k but the phone is going to hit the local market by early Jan or late Dec. So it means that we have to wait for one more month to actually get it in our hand. Please if anyone else has got any other update please let us know.

well n97 is good. But it can be charged only through usb. It doesnt make sense. I think people will buy 5800 and use a decent laptop instead of this phonetop. Well does someone agree with me? May be the design was good. But what was the need of a real qwerty keyboard. It would have been better without slider and with only touch screen. Also i expected the price to be $550. Nokia have to use little brain. Well lets see how it turns on june 09 when nokia n97 gets launched..

Why does nokia play like this only in INDIA? Why cant they announce the date and the exact price.. Is the profit NOKIA makes in India lesser than in Russia? I think Nokia makes 5times or 10 times more profit in India than in Russia. Then why this delay. I am gettin frustrated day by day without any updates.. Pathetic Nokia India..

hey dhama.. In bangalore nokia priority told the same thing. But when i went to the shop i was surprised to find a displays of nokia 5800 all over the shop. The manager was very kind and told me that the stocks have come to india and will be distributed within a week. We will be able to get only after another week. But he told me that it will be 100% on 18th or before that. I think he is correct.. Well anything new over there?

hey u all guys out there…m reili sory but today i have mixed news… i again went to the three nokia priority centre and again they are sayin that sir it will be out between 14-21 dec for price below 22,000 and hot spot also said the same thing…but then i went to one main dealer in connaught place and m really disappointed after that… he said clearly that sir u will get in january first week and if and only if u pre-book it and that too @ 23-25k …. so, there are too bad news to digest at this point of time when we are hopin that it could and it should come out anytime… but stil guys m hopeful that we will get it in max. two weeks so don’t be

ppl listen i have got some good news now… today i went to one mall in delhi n dere nokia dealer confirmed me that u will get your handset on 24th december not one day before n not one day after… after askin him so long for confirmation he also showed me 108 pre-bookings of that day and then told me that no pre-booking required now as full stock will be coming… price will be 20-21k…. cheers all u guys… i seriously hope this happens…

Grey market is not any specific area. It means the smuggled pieces available at the local vendor, they are supposed to be without any kind of bill and warranty. Buying such a mobile that too at such a higher cost is waste…its better to wait, then haste…where people have waited for months, a few more days wont make much of a difference…its a suggestion rest it s your choice…And specially buying this mobile from the grey market is a high risk..as nokia has failed previously with the touch screen phone that is 7710 + as this is a new software platform there are supposed to be a lot of bugs, as the records show nokia phones after while start giving software problems….

r u all people crazy or dumb, the phones tat cme here r also warranty piece only diff is its nt india warranty, it is honkong piece, well iam using nokia since 10 yrs now, i have bought grey market aswell as warranty piece… there is no diff. now iam using n95 8 gb since 1 yr.. never used warranty once also, only thing i did was software upgrade, even with yr grey piece u can do software upgrade, so if u have the money and dnt want to wait get 5800, since warranty piece will cme for around 22k and grey is nw 25k.. nt a bad deal…+ u r few who own this amazing phone

Evry one is goin to own this phone in a few days, so its no use buying it hastily..I think deepak is right..If the phone is from hong kong, then the dealer’s seal should be there on the warranty card, or the warranty is invalid..Also u r lucky jeetu that ur n95 did not get damaged in 1 year, or u would be in trouble..

@ jeetu. Hongkong pieces will come without 3g and wifi. Check the hongkong nokia webpage if not sure. So there is no point buying it. Indian version cannot be smuggled and hence its better to wait. Grey market is only hongkong pieces. I checked with my friends and the nokia booklet is not in english. So lets wait for the indian piece which also will have 9 songs and a video song by a r rahman specially for nokia phones. It will also have new softwares like chat clients. So its better to wait.. Dont buy from grey friends..

I got a bad news today. 5800 is launching on jan 7th. NPD manager in bangalore told me that its been again postponed due to the launch of Nokia E63.Also he told me that the price will be 25k. Nokia you suck big time. So friends we wont be typing happy new year or merry christmas. Now its been 3 months. It mentioned that it will be launched in 7 countries includin India on november. What the hell.. Nokia is a big false company.. Now i feel i shall buy omnia only.

Hey guys i do not support Grey Market mobile personally as i have incurred a lot of money during my previous experiences. Hey by the way all of ya: 1. some of the NPD are sayin that the phone is supposed to arrive by 21st and most of them are givin an expected date of Jan. 2. Price is less than 22k. 3. Nokia is not sendin any updates by mail even if you register with them online or over the phone. 4. mobiles made for japan do not have 3g and wifi.
Jeetu jus think of the risk you will be takin. coz my friends and my brother who bought grey market n81 are suffering a lot as they faced a lot of hardware as well as firmware problem. plus hey are not gettin a good resale value as its w/o bill. Goodluck Jeetu..!!

hi. what i would like to know is, suppose we prebook it for x amount (i did already) and then we pay 2k advance. we get the headphones. and then the phone comes without the headphones for 2-3k less..then thats a disadvantage to us! i mean, if the phone is for the same price with headphones (prebooking) and without headphones (without booking) only then would prebooking make any sense…cos why would i want to pay 2-3k extra for headphones..id rather buy my own choice of headphones later..

it is a Miss. im doing the exact same thing here that u are. i just dont want to be exploited, just like everyone else. u should be happy with nokia. im not. its a stupid strategy to make ppl wait this long. and where are these headphones anyway? no advertising for them on any indian nokia site. generally such schemes are ripoffs. i will be happy when i actually GET them for FREE and non-prebookers dont for the same price.

hi. just got a call from NPD in Jaipur. They said i should come over for a live demo and then i can book the phone for 2000rs. it will come in 2nd week of jan. she also said there is a guarantee of 48 hours in which phone will be replaced and warranty of one year. the price of the phone she told me is 19990. also, they have no information about the free headphones. there is no such scheme as per the information they have. i wonder if i should go and get the phone pre-booked. i asked her what if u increase the price afterwards, she said no this price is final and confirmed..im confused, ppl are saying 21880 but i just got the call..wht should i do

Well my friends i have Nokia 5800 XpressMusic from the first day it was launched. As i am useing it for a while i have found that its image quality is not very good but the video is far more better then i have expected. i have got it for UAE DHS 1680/- now compaire it with ind RS.

Wow! Takes some guts to blow all you have saved on the gadget! good luck.
I checked out the device at an NPD here in C’nai. Device does look plasticky and does not look like a 20k mo device. The photographs all over the do justice to the device. The UI itself was slick and familiar (same ol symbian) with larger icons everywhere. Checked out most of the features (messaging, thumb pad, hand writing recog., mini qwerty etc)., all work fine. I found the stylus worked the best with zero wrong inputs and the telephone style keypad (abc) (def) style worked with zero errors (no typos) for messaging. Wi-fi was quite fast and i liked the Google Chrome like thumbnail view of pages recently visited very attractive. Pictures were OK. Could not test GPS as we could not get it to work for some reason. I also realized that its going to take sometime to get used to the device as there are many ways one could do the same thing (media bar, menus, shortcuts..).

hi. i actually just went to a nokia dealer KD Electronics Jaipur (not NPD, you can book it from any nokia dealer/NPD/Nokia Store) and prebooked mine for 19,700rs. paid 2k advance. this is strange cos at the nokia store, its selling for 19990. i asked him why the difference in price, he said that they are exclusive stores and have higher margin. I also came to know later that 19,700 is the DP of the phone. well, god knows whats the actual price. but 19700 seems to be pretty ok. the lowest ive heard in jaipur.

OK. I checked the demo piece at NPD today. For overall experience I give it 8.5/10. Some of the things were slow. For example, camera is still slow (even if better quality), qwerty keyboard was slow, display rotation from portrait to landscape was extremely slow, causing me to wonder whether it will change at all. It did change the orientation but not before blanking out the display for almost a second. Hope the final OS takes care of this.
Stylus was toy like yes.
Speakers, I was hearing so much about them but did not find them loud at all. Max volume in a crowded mall did not sound as if they are great speakers.
What else. Yes, the camera still and video quality is good.
GPS/GPRS did not work, nor did WiLAN, so could not check anything regarding maps and internet.
In terms of booking and price and goodies, the price is 20k. 600/- for the headphone (optional). No more goodies promised, maybe a box of chocolates thrown in. Phone will be pre-bundles with 100 hindi+100 english songs and special AR Rehman album of 9 songs.
Delivery date is not fixed, they just say first week of jan. He mentioned he has to make payment to Nokia in full before he receives the order. He is not likely to do that before 31st.

its a democratic country, u can say anything u like, but i dont agree with Vishwaas.
wat i found wqas the speakers were really very nice..
atlast a competitor 4m nokia against Sony Ercsson.
i got w550i at present along with lg kg195 (dynamite).
i played 5800′s sound against these 2 music fones, but i found that 5800′s sound was much more recognizable.. as if sum good quality “creative” or “jbl” speakers are playing..
the touch was a bit delayed..
wen i touched the play button in the music player, it tuk about half a milisecond to register that toiuch n pause the song…
thats no issues, coz am nt the one who’ll listen loud music like several people do with their “chinese” clones!!
moreover the orientaion was a bit dissappointing. i’ve not seen ne device with accelerometer, so i cant suggest or comaper this fone’s orientaion with any other fone’s… so i wud juz say that the orientaion was quite slower than i xpected. about 1 or 1.5 seconds…
the keyp[ad for dialling numbers z a gr8 boon.... its soooo easy to dial numbers that u'll 4get its a touch screen fone!!!!
i was a bit confused wen i went to the type message option where i cudnt find how to change the handqwriting recognition to full qwerty keyboard style... but the NPD dealer helped me out...
i had 5 frnz with me, out of which 3 (including me) pre-booked it on the spot!!!!!!!!
on this point the NPD dealer has told me that he can manage a 500 bucks discount on each of our sets..
the physical keys work juzx fine.... they have a gr8 touch, nothing bad in that... the scrolling is quite easy... as in, f u slide ur finger from top to bottom in one go, the screen will be scrolled (and it wont select any other object accidentally, as its the case with my dad's moto rokr e8)
the fone lock ont he right hand side of the fone was super responsive.. it locked the fone and the light of the fone vanished without any delay.. and it came on instantly as we slid the slider..
i cudnt get my hands on the maps coz he said its not avail;able on the demo piece, but wil b available on the original set. and i also cudnt get to ssee the GPRS speed, as its said that GPRS is really fast in this device..
they werent allowed to insert any sim card in that demo piece, or else their license wud b cancelled...
wel, i talked to them about the "comes with music" service, but he said that there's no news of any such thing being offered by nokia... but he said there are 50 hindi and 50 english songs preloaded and one AR REHMAN album "Connections" that has 9 songs..

I got a luk at the device today….
i even got its video shot.. i saw ani asking people over here to click pix, i rememberd it n shot ‘em. i got pix n video both..
ok.. about the device…
its a democratic country, u can say anything u like, but i dont agree with Vishwaas.
wat i found wqas the speakers were really very nice..
atlast a competitor 4m nokia against Sony Ercsson.
i got w550i at present along with lg kg195 (dynamite).
i played 5800′s sound against these 2 music fones, but i found that 5800′s sound was much more recognizable.. as if sum good quality “creative” or “jbl” speakers are playing..
the touch was a bit delayed..
wen i touched the play button in the music player, it tuk about half a milisecond to register that toiuch n pause the song…
thats no issues, coz am nt the one who’ll listen loud music like several people do with their “chinese” clones!!
moreover the orientaion was a bit dissappointing. i’ve not seen ne device with accelerometer, so i cant suggest or comaper this fone’s orientaion with any other fone’s… so i wud juz say that the orientaion was quite slower than i xpected. about 1 or 1.5 seconds…
the keyp[ad for dialling numbers z a gr8 boon…. its soooo easy to dial numbers that u’ll 4get its a touch screen fone!!!!
i was a bit confused wen i went to the type message option where i cudnt find how to change the handqwriting recognition to full qwerty keyboard style… but the NPD dealer helped me out…
i had 5 frnz with me, out of which 3 (including me) pre-booked it on the spot!!!!!!!!
on this point the NPD dealer has told me that he can manage a 500 bucks discount on each of our sets..
the physical keys work juzx fine…. they have a gr8 touch, nothing bad in that… the scrolling is quite easy… as in, f u slide ur finger from top to bottom in one go, the screen will be scrolled (and it wont select any other object accidentally, as its the case with my dad’s moto rokr e8)

the fone lock ont he right hand side of the fone was super responsive.. it locked the fone and the light of the fone vanished without any delay.. and it came on instantly as we slid the slider..

i cudnt get my hands on the maps coz he said its not avail;able on the demo piece, but wil b available on the original set. and i also cudnt get to ssee the GPRS speed, as its said that GPRS is really fast in this device..
they werent allowed to insert any sim card in that demo piece, or else their license wud b cancelled…
wel, i talked to them about the “comes with music” service, but he said that there’s no news of any such thing being offered by nokia… but he said there are 50 hindi and 50 english songs preloaded and one AR REHMAN album “Connections” that has 9 songs..

neways, the inside news is that, this fone has already arrived in india, n in evry state, but it is not ready out for sale, as the company as its not permitted byt the company.
they get a fax from the nokia HQ of INDIA, n dat fax tells them the xast price to be sold at and the xact time n date…
n the NPD says that if the price is more than 19999, he wont ask for any extra penny f i’v prebooked!!!
AND,, PLEASE GUYS, CHECK OUT ABOUT THE “NOKIA COMES WITH MUSIC” service as they say its not gona arive along with the device!!

like i told u i booked my phone for 19700. today i went to another store, one was ready to book it for 19500, and one was even letting me book for around 19200. i felt like, UGH why did i already book it for 19700!! i am appalled at nokia why they are charging so much when the nokia dealers are booking for MUCH LESS!! if any of u are going for prebooking now, make SURE u bargain!! im really disappointed that i prebooked it in a hurry, shouldve waited

I got mine! Yippie kay yay! My NPD surprised me and asked me to come over right away and collect it. Turned out to be a big gathering. THere were 10 / 15 people who were already there picking up their units. The dealer said there were about 50 odd who had prebooked. If there are even 10 NPDs per city, and each sell the same number, the handset is already a huge success!
The headphones is sennheiser style lx90 earphones worth MRP of 3990/-
Been using it for like 10 mins. Right now its the double clicks that surprise you as you tap and wait for something to happen. When nothing happens for a few secs, you think you didnt tap it right and tap again. Another few secs and you realise that its a dbl click! other than that the haptic touch is just fab the device feels alive and it gently vibes on every tap.
Go get it!

Hey… as far as i iknow… all the NPDs have been assigned a max of 50 sets.. my npd had asked for a few more to be sold separately to non pre-bookers, but nokia denied it n said it’l b available for the general non-pre-bookers between 20th to 25h jan.
the sennheiser set is for Rs2500/-

BTW guys, all this hype gives butterflies in my stomach, as to if m doing the right thing… i mean, a 20grand worth set, n i’ll b the first one.. dat too after such a long time…. i had n95.. was one of the first owners. but that was gifted by dad, n this is my own money…

hoooray…got mine…amazing red colour….with the headphones as we all knew abt it…transfered all my phone data frm my 95 8gb to 5800…its working very well… i have the latest firmware 11.0.008….phones built quality is good…u can use the phone with 1 hand… sms typing is fast…but sme times the colour keeps changing… i quess future frimware will solve tat….me loving my new phone.. waited fr it very long i was few lucky ones to get this phone by 4 pm in bombay… well i got it cheap aswell only for 21200 rs…

i got my phone today.. dealer was not sure of the 1yr music subscription but it had 200 pre-loaded songs on it….phone is cool and im happy with it so far, however the motion sensor or the accelerometer is slow and late to respond..minor bug, but its ok and for 21800 its a grab….

Went to mobile store in Chennai and had a try on this model… Not as impressive as iPhone made me… Reaction to touch was bit slow..
Music volume was very good…
I was about to buy it, when i found that all pieces that store has, had 7th and 8th digit of IMEI (Serial no) as 02.. which is said to be bad quality..

I had got this information via a forward mail. I tried to google by typying ’7th and 8th digit of nokia IMEI’ and got lots of pages on web which mentioned the same.
One page mentions that this information is leaked from Nokia, but they have not made any official statement

No.. Nokia never meant that the products with 02 are faulty…
Nokia rates its manufacturing units across the world in terms of quality of product being manufactured… This rating of units of Nokia is done by an external agency … They rate it on various criteria, main ones being quality of parts used, way they are assembeled, etc…
Now the best ones are from 00 and 01….
Just google about this and you will find many pages on it.

Hi i think nokia has cheated with us the pre-bookers we trusted nokia to buy the phone without much information about it i got mine on 4th for rs21800 here in lucknow & now on 9th it is available with a local store for rs19000 only this is not fare if they claim that they gave headphones free then who needed them i would offer to take it back & refund the amount because one was available inbox this is not fare.I also request all the readers to check that in local market & if i am correct we should file an official complaint about this unfair trade practice “DOES ANYONE STAND WITH ME ON THIS MATTER”

Hey bro, even i am pissed with nokia. My blue 5800 is not bad. But the back panel has already started to shake slightly. Same thing happened with my nokia n96 n finally after two weeks it was shaking all over. Why da f**k does nokia always make these cheap materials. Why does da back panel always made in these crap materials? I am afraid now that after a week my 5800 will also end up like my nokia n96. Still no proper pouch or scratch has been released for 5800. Nokia cant even come near Apple Iphone. What a mistake i made by buying 5800. Should havd bought omnia or iphone 3g. Go to hell NOKIA.

got my 5800 on sunday itself… now its bn 5 days since m using it… n it proves no major problem 4me exept one!!!
wen i accept a call, n hold the fone close to my ear, its voice dissappears, then the voice comes a bit faint, then after i either shake it or move it away 4m my ear, then the voice is heard clear, but not that loud, as the original NOKIA trademark voice is actually!!!

neways, about the rest of the device, there is a bit ambuguity in its accelrometer function..
the device is sumtimes confused while its held in an awkward position, which might resemble a mixture of both vertical and horizontal. and it takes about 2 seconds to adjust itself…. a bit tacky!
and, till yet i’v not bn able to use the GPS service, either its 2complicated in this, or probably, i’m not able to configure it properly..
coming on to its picture quality, i muz say that this 3.2 MP Carl Zeiss lens beats Sony’s similar lens…
the clarity is awebreaking!!! i could zoom to the farthest possible pixel in any foto i tuk…
i went to the auto mall 2day n clicked sum pix.. check out my orkut account to find the clicks..
but m afraid, i cant say anything about its flash, coz, although its a dual flash, but it made my pics go really very light… but the outdoor pix were nothuing less than amazing..
in the video mode, the evn if the camer xperiences a bit of shakes, it habdles it quite efficiently.. the videos are also remarkable!
one thing, wen u play any video, there are a few pixelated marks at the bottom of the screen which disappears quickly. but keeps on coming…
the sound…..
i had huge xpectations about its speakers, but it hardly reached them… the sound is the CLEAREST sound in the industry and not the LOUDEST, as it was touted to be…. the sound in the headphones are truly world-class music xperience!!! teh sennheiser headset is a kewl grab for 600 bucks..
allthough this handset, i bought for 20K + 600 for the headset…
now, its available at local dealers for 18K.
No worries, coz the fantasy of being the 11th BUYER OF THIS FONE IN DELHI, was more than reassuring..
neways, i cud already see a pang of jealousy in the eyes of the people who saw my fone, this fone has come to my rescue after 2 years of postponing the program of buyinga cell..
although, this fone hasn’t got any negatives apart from the one i wrote in the beginning, but some things ud have been revamped a bit, and produced in a slight better manner..
but m not complaining!!!
the home screen has one better option of the contacts bar, which is quite beneficial as it allows u to call n sms people whum u contact quite frequently…
the music player, is of decent quality… the fone never hanged in my 5 days of ALMMOST CONTINUOUS USAGE!!! but it surey did lag behind in typing messages in the full screen qwerty keyboard as iv got a good hand at typing on qwerty keyboards, thru digital diaries n all…. this was a bit slow in that, rest, the handwriting recognition was nice. i pract6iced writing myself, n also trained in it. n now i mostly write the mesaages thru handwriting recognition. its fast than typing for me…
one thing missing in messages is that, it doesnt show which message number are u on. that means f u r viewing the 5th mesage of a list of 50 mesages, in other symbian fones, at the topits written as 5/50
but this fone doesnt have this kinda feature, too bad!!!
delting msgs is easy. replying is easy, n evn u can sort msgs on various conditions in inbox n sent msgs as well, u can evn sort on the basis of groups!!! thats a nice thing:)
the shortcuts availble are very handy… u can tap near the network icon n u can select the icon nxt to the time, which opens the conectivity options, n u can turn on n off various features, wlan, blututh etc….
alarm accessing is again easy by tapping the clock on the main screen.
fm reception is also fine. it searches all the stations efortlessly.
searching contacts in the fonebook is interesting. it predicts the next letter u muz b typing.
as in… f there are nams in ur contact buk as “deepak, dilip, dev” and u wanna call “dev”. so, u’ll type d from a list of 26 characters, then u get 2 options of “e i”. then as u press “e”, u get again 2 options “e v” and then u press “v”, and cal… this is actually wat these people call, predictive input.
thats quite interesting, juz try tht
neways, everything jas got pros n cons, no device is perfect.,.,., wen a human cant b perfectm, how can u xpect an Electronic device to be????
neways, lets hope it remains the way it is, n hopefullly nokia gives sum updates on its software, so that these few glitches can b removed…

I guess my now evrybody knws that the fone which was being sold @ arnd 21K – 22K is down 18K – 19K.
I feel so cheated..We should have been given the option of not having the headset b4….

hey anyone knows how 2 remove these prints from the scratch guard dat came on da device?…n im happy wid da typin..i typed all dis on dc device..:-)

Garvit that is not a scracth guard it was just sticked on the display to save it during transition you have to remove it before using the phone as you can se there are lines on it and the media bar icons which demonstrates that how will your display look like when you switch on the phone & the lcd is already scratch proof but you can buy one scratch guard if you want.And Bhavya did you get to resolve that voice disappering problem if yes then please mention it here as i am also facing the same problem.

I also noticed the caller voice disappearing thing (kinda sinusoidal)….but i noticed it only when i m in office..closed bay etc..works fine in open or my house..

umm is it scratch proof?but i can already see some scratches of da stylas on it…so would it be ok if i remove da sticker??

Hi I Started this topic on cheating of nokia to the pre bookers i want to file a complaint & start this topic in new page but i dont know how to start it i am confused that how to start this protest please anyone give the suggestion i have mailed customer care but they just replied with regrets.I dont want all of us to keep quite & let nokia cheat others also please we need to file a complaint to nokia with signatures of as many pepole as possible who were cheated by nokia they cannot snatch our hard earned money like that i once again appeale for support & suggestions on this matter.

hey..went to d nokia care near my place in ashok vihar. D guy said its a sureshot fault in almost al d 5800′s. N dey hv got a technical update by nokia dat d ear pieces be replacd by new ones.. Dey already hv got d new parts.. I got mine changd 4no xtra cost. N abt d litle opening on d ryt hand side of d fone, d guy sed al dey cn do z fix wid sum quick adhesive or sumtng lyk dat.. Watevaa. I’m whd u rahul… Juz teme whr 2 complain abt nokia… and guys…. Stil no idea abt d MUSIC STORE.. Or COMES WITH MUSIC! Wat d F!

Hey Bhavya why did you allowed them to open your handset i dont have that problem yet but if i have i will insist to replace the handset why should i let them open my brand new phone this was there fault not ours you know once these costly gadgets are opened then in no way they can make it look like as a brand new looks like & what kind of opening is every one talking about i cannot find any on my handset please explain.

There is an opening next to the front camera on the side, just between the main panel and the body on right top corner. it MIGHT NOT be visible in the daylight, try using the phone in a dark atmosphere and when light is being omitted from the phone look at the top right corner.
