NokiaviNe + The Web Now Made By Hand = Perfect Sense

October 15th, 2008 | 5 Comments | by Ani | Share

I had earlier posted about a new venture Nokia had been undertaking since their virtual launch announcement of Nokia N85 and N79 called NokiaviNe (presently in alpha) a glorified version of Sportstracker which totally didnt make sense to me. With the battery backup state of the present Nokia devices (leaving apart the E71 which has an amazing battery backup) it would have proved to be an extra burden. So my brain simply didnt approve of the idea to compromise the battery life for just having a location based service running and ending me with a charger everywhere. Thus restricting my mobility. But nevertheless I wanted to try the alpha myself to see if it was really what I was thinking or was I altogether wrong.

Unfortunately I missed on the trial but fortunately one of my buddies got one ;-) so having talked to him about the new client really cleared a lot of FAQs I had and now with the new devices coming in like N96, N85 and N79, things are beginning to make more sense.

NokiaviNe is a service that will enable us to keep a track of our lives as it passes by. We would not only be able to keep a track of our Geo tagged pictures, but also our favourite tracks/songs and videos all on the go. Having said that it feels that this would put a lot of burden on your phones battery, but having a real time experience with the application my friend CJ told me that it really didnt eat as much battery as we thought. The trial is currently being carried on a Nokia N82 pre-installed with the application. You guys can check out the screenshots below for the application. Thanks to our friends at WOM World / Nokia for this.

I see alot of different kinds of people using it. The guy who takes a long daily bus ride and takes pictures or listens to music along the way. The teenager who’s at this concert and wants to show his/her friends what they saw. Overall, its a great user experience for someone who loves to travel and takes a ton of photos along the way, like me. said CJ. Now the next point of the new caption that Nokia has been advertising their coming handsets i.e. The Web now made by hand at first got me confused, I thought to myself that we already were using internet on our earlier devices, so how are these devices any different. The answer was that with the NokiaviNe and Share Ovi application you can make your own niche on the web (like a blog or a photo album) and share it directly with your friends and family Right from your phone and they too can use their phone far on the receiver side aka who needs a laptop now ;-) . We already have Share Ovi but now I am eagerly waiting for NokiaviNe. Im sure it will be a great application considering the fact that todays youth wants all powers vested in their hands and share their experiences with their friends and this application sure has a lot to offer in this regard.

All I can say is that Im dying to get my hands on with these new devices (N96, N85 or N79) and try out the NokiaviNe for myself. Till that happens Ill look forward to your comments on this.

I was planning to write it in another post but I thought might as well see if people really read my stuff till the end or they just stumble away. Haha.. I know thats a bit paranoic and yes at times I add stuff that has a bit OTH transmission but to all who really manage to come this far here goes, its my B’day Today! So any ideas on having a blast are welcomed :P
