Nokia Bluetooth Speakers MD-5W : A Complete Review

Hi friends now after spending some quality time with my Nokia Bluetooth Speakers MD-5W, I’m here to share my thoughts with you about the unit. After the initial Euphoria with the unit at my gym I did face a few minor off notes but with a little adjustment the end result was none less than a 1888 French Château Wine.
Anatomy & Histology (Build & Design)
The Speakers have a pretty convex curvy look when viewed from the anterior side. A perfect 8 x 2.5 inch rectangle. On a closer look two dark circles of 0.75 inch radius can be visualized on both right and left sides of the Median Black Strip. The median black strip is 1.5 inch in width and has the control keys laid out very neatly. The dark circles which are 1 inch away from the sides of the median black strip are the place where the sound waves exit the unit. A closer look shows two dark lines at the outer top corner of the dark circles. The one on the left side is the indicator light and the one on the right is the microphone.
From the side the unit looks like a slice of a pie chart. The anterior convex edge is elevated from the rest of the part by 0.1 inch. Two depressions are present on the upper and lower sides for the screws.
The back or the posterior side of the device is a more acute convex surface with 2 big depressions which can be used to mount the device on wall. Just adjacent to them on the lateral side are located two points. The one on the left is for Power and the one on the right is for Audio input. A battery compartment is also featured in the center.
The unit is dual colored with silver on the face aside a black central part. The back is completely black. The external surface is all made from plastic.
Thus, the unit has a Retro-Classic design and color contrast with a futuristic appeal. It is made just for the moment. Something that would never go Old.
The Brain (Key Layout)
There are in total 8 keys on the central black part of the front face which can be used to perform various functions. The keys are very elegantly laid out in a particular fashion. The central square has 4 keys which clockwise from the top are Play/Pause, fast forward, stereo widening & rewind. At the four corners of the central square we have other four keys viz. Power, answer/end call, increase volume & decrease volume. The keys are very intelligently laid out and are very soft to touch. No need to go through the manual to know the function of each as the diagrams clearly display them. Easy to use.
The Nutrition (Power Supply)
The Energy on which the unit runs comes from two sources. One from 4 AA batteries making it a total of ~ 6 V (technically it is less than 6) and the second from a Power cord of output of 5 V at 890 mA current. CAUTION: This is a little different from the normal power cords used to charge cell phones.
The Heart (Sound Output & Quality)
As the most important part of the human body is the heart so is the Sound Output & Quality of this device. It is the heart that gives the person his distinct personality and same is the case here. After powering on the unit with either the cord of batteries, all you have to do is to hold down the power key for >5 seconds till blue & red light indicators flash alternately and then set them up by pairing your cell phone with them and entering 0000 code. A simple 2 minutes job. When done right the headphone sign appears on the phone display and the blue light flashes 5 times on the unit.
Now its time to put on your favorite tracks and take your favorite seat and enjoy the freedom.
The acoustic experience is simply amazing. I used them indoors and the sound was simply superb. I took the cell and moved around with no obstruction in between the speakers and cell phones line of sight and the audio output was flawless. But when there was an obstruction for e.g. a wooden table, door etc. or when I would step out of the room, the beat would miss. Thus the cell phone and the unit ought of have a clear line of sight and need to be placed at a safe distance as range is a big issue.
Out doors too the device rocked and gave me an amazing experience.
Sound technicalities, the waves of rarefaction and compression were always in harmony; on passing the device the Doppler phenomenon was also appreciated. The treble and base were in order at almost all volumes but at extremely high volumes the sound started to wobble. On playing 3D sounds, the effects could be well made out although a complete surround sound experience was not possible but still the song effects of Money by Pink Floyd gave me a big smile. Acoustic impedance and dampening were not tested as if was pointless in this case. Higher and low frequencies were well audible.
Taking calls on the device was also easy. There were a few problems with the mic as I had to speak close enough to the unit to make the person on the other side understand what I was saying.
I have used it in my gym and on a small indoor party and I must say that the unit had heads turning every now and then.

Final Verdict
I had an Amazing Experience. It is a Pocket Size Power House. Good Value for money.
Intelligently Built, Easy to Operate and finally Outstanding sound quality. Thumbs Up
