I am happy to announce that I am halfway done with a whole new game for Symbian S60 devieces that I have been working on for quite sometime now. The graphics are almost done. I don’t want to break the surprise but this Game has been a real revolutionary idea that could change how we play games on our cell phones.

Combining the likes of Camera, Accelerometer and GPS it is now possible for you to play the Game in real mode. Thus, making you the subject and you working your way around things yourself. This is what makes the game REAL. Although I’m going a little low on funding at present but whats the rush.

A Quick Peak to what it will offer:

You Register your game profile online (includes Picture & your Voice) and choose your location. The location based game levels are then downloaded to your Symbian cell phone. With some tasks to perform and some riddles to solve you make your way through various levels. Some levels can only be unlocked if you are at a particular position (i.e. based on you GPS location) while some would want you to click and upload a picture. Time will also decide the unlocking of the new level. Mixing a cup of History, Geography, Travel, Religion, Science etc. This game would test your skills. It will also make you workout as some levels would only be unlocked after you have had a run for a certain distance maintaining a baseline speed. As you progress you save your data and update your online profile for other to see.

All in all a fun game on your cell. This would leave out the stupid Energy level meters in the past games as now you are in the game and you have to take care of yourself accordingly.

If you don’t plan to Run or are in a condition in which you can’t, then some other activities like singing (which would match up your voice frequency recorded while registering)

If you follow the Game, it would take you to various Nokia Falgship Stores & Events Nokia has planned through the year, where you would get the next clue to your Mission.

Thus, you could play it in real mode. From uploading Geo Tagged Pictures to Working out, From Driving Cars to Flying Airplanes. From Simple Reasoning to Mind Boggling a whole new set of Gaming is on way.

So stay tuned. If everything goes well, the game should be out this fall. Please let me know if you like the concept. Your feedback will be helpful on this.

Update: Following is a picture I clicked today just to give you all an idea of what the game would be like. This is one of the very first drawing I made a while ago. You can click it for larger view. More recent one’s to come, so stay tuned.

I like the idea, although its going to take some convincing to get people to use it. Its a big step away from where we are now.

Especially if a design your own game (in your own city for example) concept would be available it would be cool i.e. a website where you can upload location based games and people can get their top scores posted.

Further, of course as part of a marketing campaign (ala Nokia) this would work well as you could get people to experience the campaign in a different way. Think competition, first to finish the game ends up in the prelaunch party location or gets a free product.

Thank You Niko for your feedback.

I’m happy that you like the concept. Although initially we had a lot of problems but as of now the future looks bright.
