Yes, it’s true. With the recent introduction of the mobile codes (Barcode and QR codes) big names in fashion are playing it big by tackling the new age of mobile shopping. A friend of mine mailed me this and asked for my thoughts. Well I told him that this would certainly be an amazing approach to capture the ever-growing market of mobiles.
From online shopping to mobile shopping the transition is simple and more secure according to some but still the wings are new and need a little flying around before it can really take off to the sky. Thus, now a couple of new technologies are about to make the defining action of a consumer shopping faster and more convenient than ever. Ralph Lauren, known for its preppy clothing lines, will feature ads in its catalogues this month that can be scanned by many cell phones’ cameras, allowing the items to be purchased on the spot.

How it works?
Using your cell phone camera you can scan the code using Barcode reading software and then the code will automatically direct you to the mobile site where you can make your purchase. From colour, to size to quantity, everything can be selected. Luckily Symbian devices from Nokia have inbuilt Barcode reader. Nokia has already tapped this segment and now its time to see how does the fashion industry hold.
The only issue here is that, how safe is mobile shopping?
You think mobile shopping is cool, well check this out, in Japan the practice is already wildly popular and has expanded so that the bar code like symbols are featured on billboards and cars, even temporary tattoos and gravestones.

As I say, the future is here.
