Mozilla On Mobiles : Almost There

Hello Readers, i have been tacking a piece of information from the very beginning and now at the beta test stage i want you all to participate in it as well. Good News for all Firefox Fans that the web browser giant will now shortly be available for your Symbian device. The Code Named Joey is already in the testing phase and can be glanced by taking a look at the following video.

My earlier post on Mozilla Firefox on S60 can be traced here. All those who want to give a hand to it can try it by clicking on the following link; https://joey.labs.mozilla.com

You will need to register before you can download the software from the mozilla labs site. We are trying it on Nokia N82 and Nokia E90 and we will shortly follow up with our experience.

What is Joey & what can it do?

When you browse the web, there is a great deal of important content that becomes inaccessible as soon as you walk away from your personal computer. Whether its the driving directions that you looked up or your favorite sports teams latest scores, you lose access to that information as soon as you walk away from your computer.

Mobile browsing is intended to solve this problem: just use the browser on your phone to access the content you need. This isnt a painless experience; there is too much data to download, the data is hard to reach, the content isnt formatted for the phone, and typing passwords is. Quickly retrieving specific pieces of information using a mobile device should be easier.

Project Joey is an experiment in allowing you to send the Web content you need most to your mobile phone. With Joey, you can quickly mark content that is important to you on your desktop, and have that content available while using your phone. It allows Firefox to send text clippings, pictures, videos, RSS content, and Live Bookmarks to your phone through the Joey Server. The Joey Server transcodes and keeps all of the content up-to-date. You can then use your phones browser, or the Joey application on your phone, to view and manage what you have uploaded.

This is tool that gives you your information on the go. works with your built in web browser. so basically you use the information you like on your PC firefox, upload it to your joey account and then browser it later on the go with your cell phone browser.

So I guess this is somewhat doing the same thing as the Skyfire-browser on S60. Only the Skyfire will let you open all web pages via the cell phone and doesn’t require any action from your desktop browser. I just hope the Skyfire gets faster…

I thought this was supposed to be a browser for mobile phones, not just another website.
With everybody else in the world trying to help you manage your information, personal data, what exactly is your information made of? Courses on managing information?
Didn't like the preview. I like the browser for PC. Hope the S60 version is worth it.
