Does Nokia Care, Care?
I wanted to write about this for quite sometime now and today i finally laid my hands on my computer for a writing session. It has been 8 hours and my server ws down so i would like to appologise to all my users for the inconvinience this may have caused them but any how we are back on and rolling.
All of us have now or then drove past by a Hoarding in the market that says “Nokia Care“, some of us may also have been inside for reasons of their own but i for a reason have still yet to step my foot inside one. I recently came across a piece of news from my friends at Nokia Conversations about the Exceptional service Nokia Care Has to Offer in Karachi, Pakistan. The article was Titled “Nokia Care goes east“, dated 26th May 2008 and it had following to say
KARACHI, Pakistan – The latest Nokia Care centre to roll out opened its doors in Karachi this week. The opening was celebrated with a “glittering” event at the Ebrahim Trade Towers. Alongside the usual facilities offered by Nokia Care centres around the world, local Nokia users will be able to check the status of their warranty, simply by sending an SMS with their IMEI number. This is a neat little touch which we reckon could do well to roll out everywhere.

As you expect we do have public opinion on things and so we did one for this by Narendra Singh, rather a strong reaction of which he concluded to say Goodbye to Nokia. We don’t know from where he is, but presuming that he is from Karachi as well this is what he had to say,
Hi friends, I want to share my experience with NOKIA cell phones with you and want to ALERT you regarding the drastic drop in it’s quality in recent years. The Nokia that once upon a time was famous for it’s quality and thus managed to get a upper hand than other player is now not the same. Here are my experiences and sure that I am not the only one:1. I bought a Nokia 6670 and after 1 year it’s keypad started giving some problem ,I took it to NOKIA care ( bigest mistake) they told me that there was some problem with keypad and they fixed it and charged me around Rs 300 but after one week same problem came again and after a long struggle they were ready to repair the phone again but again the same thing and after 2 weeks it again had the same problem. I thought that Nokia care center …..[...]
Many of my friends and blog users have experienced the above problem but fortunately they have been helped by Nokia Care. (I live in India and i am all satisfied with the service in My Region – i.e. Punjab) On the other hand i do believe that some Nokia Care Center’s are not up to the mark when it comes to delivering service as in his case.
But We as consumers need to be at our toes when we step into a Shop to buy something, cell phones in this matter. Following are a few ways in which you can ensure that you buy the right product.
A few tips when you buy a New Nokia Phone:-
1. Get it from an authorized Nokia Dealer (i knw it is a few $$ expensive but its worth)
2. Upon purchase get your Invoice Or Bill from the Dealer. (trust me it is very handy)
Before you leave the Store…
3. When you have bought the device, OPEN THE BOX in the DEALER OFFICE to make sure the contents inside are correct. Check the device for any anatomical flaws
Next,
4. Insert the Battery and Switch on the device to make sure that the device is working properly. (just to be extra careful Check the battery code on the Nokia Website to see if it is original)
5. Check the Serial No. by pressing *#06# on home screen to double check.
The above steps should solve a lot of problems new buyers have. These things are helpful as once the phone leaves the office, it is you who are responsible for it NOT the company. Many people use there phone in a rather Brutal way and end up in the Nokia Care complaining. Well things are not just easy for you or for the Nokia people.
The Other Side of the Story
In these developing Nations a Lot of people i know tell false stories to avail the benefits of FREE replacement, So i feel Nokia People are RIGHT in a way to be extra Strict. So as in every other coin, this too has two sides.
Following is a Poll, which i feel will get your opinion on the story.

I pesonally feel that Nokia should employ more proffesional and qualified people in Nokia Care atleast thats what i have seen in smaller towns the knowledge of people sitting there is very limited and the customer interaction has to be better
